Striker always felt uncomfortable after medical check ups. The next thing to do before heading to find his quarters was to report to his head of department.

Striker found the office fairly easily.. it had certainly paid off familiarising himself with the deck layout.

He adjusted his holdall strap and pressed the com panel awaiting his new boss’s reply.

The door opened without delay and a shorter, brown haired man smiled and beckoned the ensign inside. “I’m Eilah Faith, and you?”

Striker walked into the office & stood straight to attention.

“Ensign John Striker sir, reporting for duty.”

Eilah waved a hand, “At ease, no need for that kind of formality now,” he said, gesturing to a chair. “Sit. Please.”

Striker nodded, smiled and sat down.

“I’m very pleased to be here sir, I could not believe I got a starship as my first posting.”

Striker wondered if he should’ve spoken first, there were officers who wouldn’t approve.... But also some like Commander Briggs at the academy who would sit in silence until you cleared your mind, as he called it.
