Kaia walked into the Drone Storage bay and pulled out her toolkit, then looked at their stock of surveillance drones, trying to decide which one to set up for this mission. “Just have to install a self-destruct mechanism, no biggie…” she muttered under her breath. “Maybe add something to help it cut through the interference too..”

Able darted through the door of the Drone Storage bay. Not wanting to make another bad impression with the Chief Engineer, Able said, Ensign Nightroad reporting as ordered.” and waited for his first task.

Nightroad, Engineer

Bump

Kaia waved Able over to the console she was working at. “Ok. So, how much do you know about our current mission?”

Able cleared his throat as he walked over to the Chief Engineer. As he approached the console, he said, “I have not been in any of the mission briefs yet.”

Nightroad, Engineer

“Alright. We’re investigating strange signals in a nebula. There’s a planet in there somewhere, and sensors keep picking up the signature of what seems to be a Vulcan ship, but the registration doesn’t match any known Vulcan ships. Our job is to prep this here drone,” she gave the drone a little pat “for a little deep scan and recon. CO wants a self destruct module installed, and I want to add in some extra sensor and transmission modules to help make sure it can talk with us. I’ll handle the self destruct, I’d like you to take care of the sensor modules. Think you can manage that?”

Able replied, “Aye um,” He cleared his throat a bit and continued, “I can handle the sensors.” Able almost mad the mistake of saying Ma’am again but thanked himself for catching it. Able started tinkering with the probe and adjusted the sensors he had put in till everything seemed to be correct.

Nightroad, Engineer

Kaia nodded, then got to work. Working together, they quickly completed the task. “Thank you for your help, ensign.”

Kaia commed the bridge. =^=CE to Bridge. The advanced surveillance probe is ready to launch on your command.=^=

Able stepped back and looked at the prob. After a moment Able said, “What’s next?”

“I will return to the bridge. You may accompany me if you have no other duties to complete.”
