Ben stepped out of his quarters, and started to make his way toward the turbolift. He was dressed smartly in a fresh set of his uniform, his hair pushed up and to one side in a quiff. He felt well rested, having slept solidly the entire night. He had planned to read through some medical reports when getting in, but instead he had decided to take a short lie down on his bed. The next thing he knew, he was waking up at 0500 to the sound of his alarm. He had decided to get in a few rounds of Velocity down in the holodeck, before taking a shower and heading for breakfast.

As he entered the Turbolift, he thought he could hear footsteps following behind him. He held the door open for a moment to see if anyone came around the corner.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

It was Eilah who came around the corner and stepped into the lift, dressed in a clean uniform and smiling. “Morning, Ben. Where’re you headed off to?”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben smiled. “Hey!” he said, letting the doors slide shut after Eilah entered. “I was going to go to breakfast,” he said, before lifting a hand up to one of Eilah’s elbows, touching it gentle. “Apparently I have a really important meeting with the Chief of Security at 0700.” he said with a grin.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah smiled. “Apparently you made it a little early.” He said. “I was just wondering what to have for breakfast. I’m thinking something light. Today’s going to be busy. What about you?”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben’s face dropped with slight disappointment. He was planning on having a full English breakfast, having just spent the previous hour ducking and diving around the holodeck. Mustering a bit of a smile, he was about to agree with having something light, but then remembered Eilah’s ability… not that it would have been necessary with the picture painted by his facial expression.

“Well, truth be told, I’m starving,” he said, with a bit of a smile before continuing. “I could eat a horse.”

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah felt his disappointment, it was all over him and his words and immediately felt bad. “Oh, no, forget what I said. Full English it is.” He said and grinned, not forced at all, though there was a hint of guilt to it. He brushed his hand against Ben’s, “I appreciate the honesty. Really.”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben smiled. “Well, I don’t mind if you want to eat light, as long as you don’t mind me stuffing my face.” he said with a grin. “Although I hope you don’t have to rush off too quickly.” he said, taking hold of Eilah’s hand in his. He leaned in, and gave Eilah a gentle kiss on his cheek.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah smiled and held Ben’s hand. “There’s nothing that can’t wait a little while.” He said. “I just have a lot of training later, don’t want to be all weighed down.” He smiled, “Sorry, I… Heh, I must just be worried about my sister.”

~ Fayth, COS

“See, this is why I do my training in the morning!” Ben said with a smile.

“May I ask why you’re worried about her?” He asked.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

“She’s my baby sister. I always worry.” Eilah replied “We were really close as kids. Still are - as much as you can be when I’m way out here and she’s on Oed V.”

~ Fayth, COS

“Ahh, family. Who would have them?” Ben said with a grin as the turbo lift opened up on Deck 3 near the Officers’ Mess.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah laughed. “Sharah… She has, let’s say, special abilities. I’ve always been out to protect and help her.” He said. He headed towards the mess, glancing back towards Ben. “You’ll like her when you meet her.”

~ Fayth, COS

“I’ll make sure I’m on my best behaviour when I meet her,” he said with grin. “I sensed she was equally as protective of you. But then, that’s what family is for!” he said, following Eilah into the ‘wardroom’ as the British would call it.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah laughed, “That’s because she thinks I’m the one that needs protecting!” He said. “Don’t let her fool you.” He grinned, “I’m more worried about her behavior than yours.”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben chuckled. “You know that’s probably why she’s worried about you,” he said, slightly tongue in cheek, but also slightly seriously. “You seem to think the best in people. She’s probably just making sure that you’re keeping an open mind.”

“Although, whilst I am biased, I would say she hasn’t got much to worry about… if anything, I think I’m the one needing protection from you,” he said with a grin and a wink.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah laughed and grinned. “Protection? From me?” He shook his head. “What exactly am I going to do to you, Ben?” He asked and gave Ben one of his best looks.

~ Fayth, COS

Ben grinned mischievously, just as they entered the Officer’s Mess. “I guess I’ll just have to find out,” he said, before indicating to a spare table by one of the viewports.

“Shall we sit here?”

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah nodded, “Looks as good a spot as any,” He said. Then he headed over and took a seat. He grinned playfully, “You will, and when you do find out… it’ll be a lot of fun for both of us.”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben raised an eyebrow slightly as he took his seat. Pretending to be nonchalant, he quickly retorted. “Well, I do like a good game of poker…” he paused, before unfolding his napkin and placing it over his lap. “I’m assuming you were referring to card games.” he said, pretending to be serious but failing entirely to do so.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

“Poker sounds great,” Eilah said, “So long as it’s the kind where the bets get… more interesting, each time.” He was referring to the sort of poker in which one’s bet usually had to do with removing the clothes they were wearing. “I warn you though, poker with a betazoid, doesn’t tend to end well.”

~ Fayth, COS

“Depends on your definition of ending well,” Ben said with a grin. He was about to comment further, before one of the stewards promptly arrived at the table.

“Can I get either of you some Tea, Coffee? Maybe some prune juice?” he asked.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah grinned. “Uh, tea is fine,” He said to the steward. Honestly, he just wanted the man to go away so he could continue the conversation with Ben.

~ Fayth, COS

“Tea would be great, thank you.” Ben said to the steward, before turning back to Eilah. “Sorry, where were we?” he said, knowing full well where the conversation had left off, but curious to see where Eilah would take it.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

“Deciding on the definition of ending well, I think,” Eilah replied, meeting Ben’s gaze. His eyes were dancing, he was quite interested and having fun.

~ Fayth, COS

Ben blushed slightly, but decided to keep it cool. “Well, I guess you’ll just have to play your cards right,” he said as a joke, noting the reference to poker, before picking up the menu and scrolling down the options.

“Anything tickle your fancy?” Ben asked.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah chuckled lightly. “I seem to be playing them just right so far.” He looked at the menu. “Let’s see.....”

~ Fayth, COS

“Oh, aren’t we confident?” Ben said, in a mock tone that was full of jest, as he shot a smile at Eilah.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

“Don’t need confidence when you already know,” Eilah replied easily, grinning right back.

~ Fayth, COS

“Well, maybe I need to play hard to get just to keep you on your toes,” Ben retorted, looking slightly off into the distance, before glancing back at Eilah.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah put on his best ‘cute’ face, leaned forward, and placed a hand on Ben’s. “You can’t resist me well enough to.”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben felt Eilah’s hand on his, and looked up. The face Eilah was pulling was enough to make Ben giggle whilst knowing that Eilah had a point. Leaning forward, he put his hand on the back of Eilah’s head and pull him in for a kiss.

“Are you re…” the steward, who had just appeared out of no-where, stopped mid-sentence, not knowing which way to turn.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

Eilah shamelessly finished the kiss and then grinned at Ben, his hand still on Ben’s. Then he greeted the steward. “We’re ready, yes. Sorry for the delay.”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben blushed slightly, wondering whether he was a similar shade of red as the steward. He hadn’t actually made a decision, so decided to opt for one of his regulars.

“May I have the scrambled Ktarian eggs, with smoked Risian salmon.” he said, before glancing across at Eilah.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

“Betazoid breakfast salad with a side of andorian salad dressing,” Eilah said. “And a black tea? Yeah.”

~ Fayth, COS

“Make that two teas, both Ceylon.” he said, with a smile. “We don’t want to be having any old tea.”

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

The steward went to get them what they ordered. Eilah smiled. “What’s so special about Ceylon, then?”

~ Fayth, COS

“It’s full of flavour, yet with citrus and pice notes rather than mellow. It’s a great tea to start the day with.” Ben replied, taking a sip of the water that was on the table.

“Tea drinking can be quite the science,” he continued, with a smile. “Are you more of a tea or coffee drinker?”

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

“Tea, but I’m most familiar with Betazoid teas and Vulcan teas. I spent some time on Vulcan with my sister,” Eilah told him.

~ Fayth, COS

“Ahh, it’s very similar to the tea from the plantations near Mount Tar’Hana,” Ben said, clearly knowing a fair bit about tea from across the Federation. “But I’ve always been biased to earth teas.” he said with a smile. “Maybe I should give a Betazoid a try…” his voice trailed off slightly as he grinned cheekily.

Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer

“You should!” Eilah said. “It is immensely relaxing.” He smiled. “Mount Tar’Hana tea is the most flavorful of any on Vulcan. Like their food, their tea is generally bland.”

~ Fayth, COS

Ben paused, wondering if Eilah was feigning ignorance, or hadn’t caught the subtle undertone of his statement. He chuckled for a moment, before taking hold of Eilah’s hand. “I wasn’t referring to the tea.” he said with a playful smile.
