OOC: Creating a new thread so you can continue the frivolities before the meal, but also moving along the plot.

After a few minutes, a butler sounded a gavel, the clacking of wood cutting across.

“Dinner will be served in 5 minutes,” he states. The warning allowed the guests to button up their braces and powder their noses, ready for the meal. It was seen as poor form to leave the table mid-meal.

Evelyn moved out of the room to ‘powder her nose’ and arrived in the dining room right on time with everyone else. Well almost everyone else.

Kaia had no need to ‘powder’ her nose, so she lingered at the door to the dining hall until the doors were opened.

Five minutes later, everyone entered the elaborate hall, the smell of the finest roast beef filling the room… everyone apart from Lord Harrington.

Evelyn was surprised to not see Lord Harrington. He was usually so punctual. He had impeccable manners and would never keep his guests waiting. “Isabella, do you think Lord Harrington is alright?” She tried not to sound too concerned, but only mildly curious.

Lady Harrington seemed unconcerned. “It takes his longer to powder his nose these days,” she joked, as the food was placed on the table.

She smiled, seemingly reassured by her friend. Shedda looked around the room, eyes narrowed, curious and excited. Was the game already beginning?

Kaia licked her lips, eager to try the food. Wait, if they were on the holodeck, was it even real food? She made a note to look into that later, after the game.

Everyone tucked into the food on the table, the combination of transporter and replicator technology had yielded actual food for the party to enjoy. So that the crew would enjoy the food as part of the experience, there was not much attention drawn to the lack of Lord Harrington.

However, it came to the part of the dinner after the dessert where Lord Harrington was meant to do a speech. By now, Lady Harrington looked flustered, with a number of servants having spoken to her during the meal.

”…I don’t care, just find him!” she said, loud enough for her voice to reverberate across the room.

Arthur glanced over to her. ” Madam, is everything quite alright?” he inquired, inwardly grinning. So it begins.
