As Ben made his way down the corridor towards the holodeck, an Ensign walking toward him gave him a knowing smile. Ben chuckled to himself. Whilst he knew the holodeck was perfectly capable of fashioning his look for the other holodeck users, it was never the same as getting into the costume himself. Indeed, it had taken him the best part of half an hour to get into it, but that was half the fun: figuring out how to tie the deep blue cravat that sat around the collar of his shirt; doing up the plethora of buttons on the shirt, waistcoat and long-tailed jacket; affixing the braces to the trousers to hold them up, and then doing up the laces to his shoes. The finishing touch, of course, was the masquerade mask he held in his hand.As he entered the holodeck, he punched in a view commands and the setting of Thornfield Manor shimmered to live, set in 19th century England. The large, opulent ballroom could be seen through a set of double doors that led form the grand hallway that Ben found himself stood in.
“Ahhh!! Inspector Blackwood!” came a booming voice form behind him. “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” the older gentleman said, extending his hand.
“Lord Harrington, I presume?” replied Ben, shaking the proffered hand.
“Oh yes, but please, let’s not stand on ceremony. It’s Edward.” he said with a grin, whilst still shaking Ben’s hand
“Be.... Charles” replied Ben, almost forgetting he was meant to be in character. “It’s a magnificent house!”
OOC: Feel free to jump in. If you do join, I’ll drop you a line with some bits you need to play out as part of the murder mystery :-)
Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical OfficerShedda was excited for the evening. She hadn’t taken time in awhile, but she loved history, and this seemed an entertaining diversion. It had taken forever to work the long hose, stockings, and layers of petticoats under the skirts. Then the corset, crinoline and bustle. All of that was under the skirt and bodice of the dress.
She was dressed in a rich cream with venetian red accents which complimented her flawless green skin. Her hair was pinned and bejeweled with delicate whispy curls framing her face, hidden behind a red mask. She stepped through the holodeck doors and glanced around the elaborate architecture.
Cmdr. Mal’athar, XO
“Ahh, welcome my fair Lady Evelyn!” boomed Edward, somehow in a soft voice. “It has been too long, and I’m so glad that you are able to grace us once again,” he continued with a broad smile, taking Shedda’s hand in his and placing a kiss on it.
“Dear Lord Harrington,” she curtsied just right speaking quietly and returning his smile. “I could not pass up the chance to visit my dear friends again.” She glanced around, “Wherr is Isabella?”
“Edward!” Rang out a husky voice of an older woman. “If I didn’t know better, I would think I don’t fully fulfil you, but we both know that’s not the case.” She said in a look that was both withering, yet full of amusement.
She removed her hand from Lord Harrington’s and turned to the voice. Speak the name and she shall appear.
“I was just welcoming our close friend, Evelyn Montague.” He said, as ways of an excuse, before turning back to the guests. “For those of you who haven’t met my lovely wife, Lady Harrington,” Edward said as ways of introduction to the group, a little shell shocked from the public reprimand.
“Please, Isabella,” she replied to everyone.
Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical OfficerEvelyn looked over, a grand smile crossing her face. She hurried over, took both the lady’s hands and squeezed. “I have so missed your company.”
Kaia’s tail-tip flicked back and forth anxiously as she approached the Holodeck. She was excited to participate in the Holodeck adventure, but also nervous. Would she be able to fit in? She’d done some research and found the clothes of the period highly impractical and odd, and had ended up settling for something a little more natural for herself. A soft outfit made of pale yellow and blue silk, designed after the fashion of her species during a similar technological period. It vaguely resembled a sarong, leaving her shoulders bare except for a purely decorative strap over one shoulder. She had pulled her fake fur sleeve over her prosthetic arm to make it look as though both hands were natural. She also had a few fake earrings on her ears, and several bronze bangles on her wrists.
Kaia took a deep breath, then entered the program. She looked up and around at the decor, fascinated by this glance into Earth history. It was one thing seeing pictures of the time period during her… vague research into the time period in preparation for this little experience. It was another thing entirely to walk among the structures. Seeing how the Holodeck characters (and her fellow Officers) were dressed, she was glad she’d gone for the much easier to don choice. With all those layers, she would have quickly overheated in her fur!
Lieutenant Kaia
Chief Engineer USS ManhattanLord Harrington’s loud voice boomed out once again across the room. “Ahh, Dr Beatrice Rahimi!” he called out. “I’m glad you could make it.”
Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical OfficerArthur grinned as he strode down the corridor to the holodeck, dressed in his own period-accurate (well, mostly, at least) costume. This was right up his alley. It had taken a while to put on the outfit, true, but this wasn’t the first time he’d worn this style of dress - he did have something of a flair for the dramatic, after all. His waistcoat was a dark navy blue with golden embroidery throughout, accented by his golden cravat. He paused at the door, donning his own half-face black and gold mask, and stepped inside.
Lieutenant Commander Arthur Flynn
Chief Science OfficerFor some reason, Lord Harrington simply nodded at Arthur, and simply said. “Colonel,” as a way of greeting.
Hmmm how interesting. Was Lord Harrington not happy to have him here. She watched the Colonel curiously.
“Harrington,” Arthur replied curtly, quickly turning away from their host and joining the other guests.
Eilah wore a beige knee length coat overtop a period style shirt and nice pants to bring it all together. His shoes looked nice, but inside, were comfortable. It had taken him a while to figure out what to wear for this period of Earth history, but he couldn’t not go in costume. On his head sat one of those goofy fedoras.
As he stepped into the holodeck, he looked around and waved to Ben. “Guess who?” He said and grinned.

Ben gave Eilah a blank look. “I’m sorry, I don’t think we’ve met. Inspect Charles Blackwood, of the Police of the Metropolis. You must be Mr Thomas Hawke Esquire,” he continued, “Lord Harrington’s business associate”. He extended a hand, and then gave Eilah a playful wink.
“Ah, yes, that’s me!” Eilah even put on a fake English accent. He was pretty good at it. He seemed to be emulating Ben’s own accent. “Sorry I’m late, Inspector,” he turned to Harrington, “Mr Harrington.”
“Come, everyone!” boomed the loud voice of Lord Harrington. Ben made a mental note to update the programme to make the character slightly less extrovert, it was a little bit grating. “Let’s go take a drink next door!” he said, leading the way to a spacious orangery, where two butlers were stood with trays of drinks.
Lt. Hudson
Chief Medical Officer“Hmmm I’m not one for alcohol but inspector Blackwood, I’d love nothing more than to join you.” Eilah said, grinning at Ben as he headed over and looked at what the butlers had for drinks.

Shedda, aka Evelyn, stayed with Lady Harrington ad they walked. She leaned in whispering softly. “Isabella, do tell me, who is that dashing Colonel?”
Cmdr. Mal’athar, XO
Kaia, aka Dr Rahimi, milled around silently with the other guests, keeping an eye on each new arrival. She was impressed by each of their outfits. She wandered over towards Arthur. “Greetings, Colonel. I believe we met at Lord Keyes’s dinner party last month. How has the intervening time treated you?”
Lieutenant Kaia
Chief Engineer USS Manhattan
“Doctor,” he greeted, much more cheerful but still somewhat stiff. “Nothing different than at Lord Keyes’s party, I fear, just the endless monotony of civilian life.”
Lieutenant Commander Arthur Flynn
Chief Science Officer
