Engineering, can I get a Level 4 diagnostic of non-critical systems and a level 3 diagnostic of critical systems, please?” He tapped at the panel, transferring primary ship command functions to the Aux Bridge. While he was, of course, worried, he’d long ago learned that if the leader looks calm and cheerful, everyone else gravitates that direction. And as long as he wasn’t actually long-term in command, he was fine there too. So he sat and softly smiled as the crew took their stations and started on the tasks, waiting for the command staff to manage to get down to deck 7.

Came the shipwide comm. A moment later Cmdr. Mal’athar walked onto the aux bridge on deck 7. “Comm get me an emergency line to Event Horizon.” She looked at Flynn as she took the center seat. “Status report?”

With Ens Book remaining near the main bridge to be ready to render medical assistance to the bridge crew, Ben had decided to head to the Auxiliary Bridge. As he arrived on the bridge, he went across to one of the terminals.

“Scans and diagnostics are underway, command functions are centralized here. No results yet,” Arthur stated, moving to the science station and relieving the officer there as Commander Mal’athar took the central chair.

Mal’athar nodded, “Thank you, Cmdr Flynn.”

At that moment, the computer coordinated results with the team by the bridge and the Aux bridge. A copy of all the bridge stations current tasks came through. It seemed that everyone had been focused… intensely focused… on an incoming hail from somewhere is deep space. All of the stations were being used to listen to it… but not to analyze it, oddly enough. It seems that the bridge crew was simply listening to it… with no attention to anything else.

The bridge feeds came online as well. They showed all the crew on the deck, some convulsing, and all bleeding out of their ears and eyes.

Ben swore under his breath.

“Can we shut that signal down?!”, he barked to no-one in particular. He couldn’t be too sure at this distance, but the bleeding from the ears and eyes indicated some form of cerebral haemorrhage. The signal had to be linked.

Shedda watched the feeds in growing concern. “Kohvlek do NOT allow that signal to play here, she what you can do to get that signal shut down.”

“Aye Commander,” Kohvlek got to work.

“Flynn I want to know where that signal is coming from and what kind of frequency it is. Without you having to listen to it. Engineering, I want all systems but life support shut down and cut off from the bridge. Tacticle give me an assessment of possible threats in the area and any ships or signals out there.” Then she turned to Hudson, “Is there anything we can release through the vents to help them?”

“Understood.” Arthur tapped at his console, pulling the relevant data from the comms system with a restriction to block the actual signal from being displayed or played.

“Kohvlek, I need that connection to Event Horizon as fast as you can make it. Priority ine emergency.”

The comm officer nodded and added that to the things she was doing, “Signal out, awaiting a connection, Ma’am.”
