It was the middle of third shift. The ship was quiet, most of the crew and civilian staff were asleep, lulled into comfortable slumber by the slight hum and vibration of the massive science vessel at warp. On the bridge the OOD, Lieutenant Sancx, sat in the command chair and reviewed the duty reports that had come in from the various departments. The few personnel on the bridge had been quiet for some time, simply watching and monitoring the ship and surrounding space. So it was when an unexpected sound cut through the silence: a hail. The comms officer turned and said “Lieutenant, we have a hail from an unknown source. I… I can’t pinpoint the location sir; but it seems to be coming from somewhere in the middle of nowhere. And scanners show nothing in the area.”
The Sancx furrowed his brow and said “Play it, Ensign.” The comms officer nodded and tapped the icon to play the hail to the bridge…
Alarms sounded in the quarters of the CO, XO, and all Department Heads. The computer’s voice said =/\=Attention Senior Officers. All bridge crew have been incapacitated. Life signs fluctuating. Emergency protocols activated. =/\=
Cochrane, CO
Cochrane awoke when the alarm sounded. As he listened to the computer talk, he threw on his uniform and bolted out of his quarters and sprinted towards the bridge. As he did, he tapped his commbadge. =/\= Cochrane to Medical! Emergency on the bridge. Medical support on site immediately! =/\= As he reached the doors to the turbo lift, he stepped in and said “Bridge.” There was a chirp and the computer said =/\= Bridge unaccesible at this time. Emergency containment protocols in place. =/\= Cocrane stared a moment. If the bridge was sealed off due to emergency containment, then something had to have happened to the crew… but what? He though another moment and then tapped his commbadge. =/\= Medical and security teams meet me at the turbolift on deck two ASAP. XO, with me. =/\= and he stepped out of the lift and looked up at where the bridge was above him.
Cochrane, CO
Shedda wasn’t asleep, but had been enjoying some extra time with her sunrise lamp. The alarms sounded and she sat up quickly. She pulled her uniform on and stepped into her boots as she walked out the door. She heard Cochrane’s orders in tandem from the combadge and his voice as she joined him in the corridor. She also looked up toward the bridge. They could use the tubes to get there.
Shedda looked at Alex, “Emergency medical transport to quarantine in sickbay?” Doctors didn’t usually like that, they wanted to assess first but if they couldn’t get to them to assess…
“Computer what is the nature of the cause for containment?”
Cmdr. Mal’athar, XO
Eilah was up and ready quickly. He rushed out of his quarters and up with the security team to the turbo lift on deck two. What had happened? All bridge staff were in trouble, when nothing had happened to the rest of the ship? Why no call to security sooner? Or medical? It was all so strange.
~ Fayth, COS
Arthur rolled out of bed at the alarms, blinking as he came to full wakefulness. After throwing a uniform jacket over his (science blue, of course) pajamas and pinning on a combadge, he dashed out the door of his quarters a minute after the faster department heads, taking a turbolift the opposite direction as them - down, toward the bulk of the labs, his office, and, most pertinently, the Aux Bridge. He stopped on Deck 6 to grab a team from the labs and send them up to Deck 2 with the command team, then finished his trip down to the secondary command center and stepped out, taking the empty center seat.
Within moments, a medical team had arrived outside of the bridge. Ensign Book, who was leading the team, listened in to the conversation between the Captain and Executive Officer.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry, but we need to know a little bit more before we beam them within the ship, both for the safety of the ship and for their safety.” he said, as he flicked open a medical tricorder and started scanning for life signs.
Ensign Byther Book
=/\= “Flynn to Cochrane. I am on the Aux Bridge in case of further catastrophe, there is a science team on its way to you now.” =/\=
