“Hello, please come on in. What I can do for you?” Sair asked, gesturing to the seats near her.

Anna walked in, taking in her surroundings for a moment, noting the striking sculpture but not recognizing it, before she looked at the Counselor and smiled. “Counselor Songz, I take it? I’m Anna Fitzgerald. Came aboard just an hour or two ago. Met my boss, had my physical, found my quarters. Now I’m here. You’re the final item on my checklist for today, unless and untill Lieutenant Hudson tells me otherwise.”

She’d seen the gesture, so she sat, without asking for permission.

“Ahh yes, the boarding gauntlet,” Songz said with a smile. “I do try to keep these conversations fairly short, because I know settling in can be a lot and these first days can be overwhelming.”

Anna gave her a half-shrug. “Overwhelming isn’t one of the words I would use to describe these last few days. Or weeks. Though I admit, as far as coming aboard goes, it probably helps that this isn’t my first rodeo.”

“True,” Sair said with a nod.

“Can I get you anything to eat or drink while I’m at the replicator?” The name rang a bell, and she knew she had read the file after it came in recently. In fact she had it on a PADD somewhere on her desk.

“A cup of tea would be great, right about now. Earl Grey, hot. Please, and thank you.”

She gave a nod and ordered the tea, carrying both cups over to the sitting area. She set the earl grey in front of Anna and set hers on in front of one of the armchair near where the doctor was sitting. Sair ventured back across her office to her desk, found the PADD she knew she had set aside. “So, new assignment after awhile. And a lower rank. I understand that was your request. May I ask why?”
