“Please, take a seat.” she indicated toward a spare chair. “The Chief Medical Officer will be out shortly. We’re still waiting for some more crew from Starfleet, so he’s having to do a fair chunk of the medicals.” she explained. “Feel free to get a drink from the replicator whilst you wait.”

Nurse Ryder

Devin took a seat in a smooth motion, she didn’t need a drink. “I’m fine thank you.” she said lightly. No need to be more of a presence than needed. Devin wasn’t great at medical stuff but she knew a few that were, after more information she might send off a letter or two to see if her more medically-inclined friends might want to join the Manny.

A young man wearing the blue-teal collar of the sciences walked into the bay, placing a used cup in one of the replicator slots; within seconds it had dematerialised.

“Good morning Doctor,” the nurse started, handing a PADD over to him. “Ensign Devin Kindle is here for her medical.”

“Ahh, perfect.” Ben said with a smile toward the Ensign. “Devin, if you would like to hop up on to a bed, I’ll start to do some readings. Are there any complaints you have that you would like to discuss?” He asked, with a cursory glance at the PADD.

Devin quite literally hopped up on the bed (it was more of a jump for her since she was only 4‘11”) not that she ever complained about that. “I might have sprained my left ankle doing some parkour yesterday but I haven’t had trouble with it or anything but I know better than to not mention it.” she said with a cheeky grin at the doctor.

“Quite right!” replied Ben, returning the grin. “And, of course, you should have come into sickbay when you injured yourself in the first place.” he said, scanning Devin.

“Ahh yes, a slight overextension of the anterior talofibular ligament.” he said, talking to himself as much as he was talking to Devin. He took one of the tissue regenerators from the medical equipment trolleys and ran it over Devin’s ankle. “There, how does that feel?” he asked.

Devin nodded her head, “I would have come by sooner but I was still getting used to the ship and the parkour was before I was transferred over, from previous assignment. So still my fault for not being here sooner but slightly less I guess?” she paused and nodded her head again, “Feels like it should, thank you.” Devin added another cheeky grin as she looked back up at him.

OOC: If you don’t want her to play-flirt with your character, just let me know I will stop. I wanted to mention it because I know some folks are fine with it while others are not so openly saying if you are not cool with it just to let me know. Take care and thanks for the post. Sorry for the wait.

OOC: Sure, no worries at all!

IC: Ben grinned back. “Great, in that case, we’ll get back to the usual programme for the medical.” he said, running a tricorder over the Ensign. Given the Ensign’s apparently love of sports, he didn’t expect to see anything significant other than perhaps some old injuries.

(OOC: He’ll notice that her heart is just slightly smaller than most humans and her lungs are slightly larger than in most humans, the note she was born premature at 26 weeks along with her brothers, she’s bright light sensitive, strong night vision, pollen allergies, but doesn’t complain about it much. Extreme allergy to spider bites but she does her best to avoid them. Broken left ankle from gymnastics, dislocated shoulder from rock climbing, (catching her heavier climbing partner when they fell). Feel free to add more, as I sure there should be because she is not reckless but she is determined to try anything new. ;-) .)

Devin grinned cheekily, as he ran the scanner. Though she did quietly brace for a riot act rant from the Doctor when they finished reading the details of her overly adventurous injury history. She wasn’t stupid but she could be overly determined when trying new sports or activities. At least she had never gotten shot by her own arrow while practicing archery, her brother Micha could not make that claim, she was still baffled on how he managed that one. An impressive result of bad luck and timing.

Ben raised a slight eyebrow at the results as they came in. “Well, a few bumps and bruises…” he said, continuing the scan, “but it looks like they’ve all be attended to, so at least I know you’re not persistently avoiding us medical folks.” he said with a smile.

“I saw from your file that you’ve also go some allergies and a sensitivity to bright light. I am assuming these aren’t interfering with your day-to-day lifestyle?” he asked. He knew that some Starfleet officers could try to be a bit macho and not seek help, but he always had the mentality that any fool could be uncomfortable.
