The core did power up with a soft glow that stuttered at first but held. As the subsystems slowly ran through a boot diagnostic there looked to be a significant mix of red, amber and green marks, with the green in the minority. Elements of =^= Subsystem failure =^= and =^= Memory Core 12A error =^= and the likes. Distinct computer core corruption from a century (plus possible tertiary damage from whatever happened to the ship). Elements could be extracted and the amber regions possibly could be recovered. Red areas .. anyone’s guess.

Devin blinked at the corpse, she couldn’t tell if it was human or something else the decay was enough that it was up to medical science to figure it out at least from her perspective. She wasn’t thrilled at seeing the dead but she wasn’t unused to it either. It was a startling sight but not enough to upset her stomach or anything. If it had been arachnid or something close she might have said a word or two that wasn’t quite professional but she would have recovered quickly enough in most cases. “Sir found a corpse. Not certain but it looks likes it’s been a while since it’s been here.”

Eilah stopped with a jump as he came upon the body himself. “Ah, that’s… not what I expected.” He gave the corpse a disgusted look, but didn’t seem too disturbed. “Any ideas why they died?” He asked, shining his flashlight at it.

Devin eyed the corpse and shook her head, “Could be a case of what didn’t kill them, could have been dehydration, exposure, they could have had a stroke or something. Medical scans might solve it but all I can offer is ideas.” Devin didn’t add any smart arse commentary, it wasn’t the right time or place and she wasn’t about to be that disrespectful of the dead. Folks of her previous postings would have made quiet remarks to joke open coms or not. She never called them out because they generally out ranked her and she didn’t borrow trouble unless it was pay back for a prank war.

Scans would not show anything that might be a contaminant. After that long in essentially a vacuum, beyond being possessed, there was nothing harmful.

Shedda was keeping track over the comms and left Kaia and Sorvk to work. She called ops and had a bodybag beamed over. She took it with her up to the bridge area. “I heard there was a body,” she said as she came up behind Fayth and glanced over his shoulder and the floating body. “Poor soul. Well let’s get him scanned and prepped for transport.”

Not long after the body bag was beamed over. The act of actually putting said body - even though the individual was a dwarf - was a challenge. Even being careful, during the process one arm snapped off with a small spray of dust and bits. However, that said, that grisly job was soon done.

Kaia examined the computer core with a slightly disappointed, but still determined expression on her face. “Welp… I’m not really a computer specialist, but I know enough about them. Let’s get working on this…” She plugged a PaDD into the core and started downloading what she could from the green and amber sections. It’d be much easier to examine the data when they were back in the safety of the Manhattan.

While the download began Kaia’s mind was ticking in the idea that the computer core on this small craft (relatively) could be removed with some elbow grease and time.

A voice crackled across the away team’s comms channel.

=^= Hudson to Away Team. We’re ready to receive the body whenever you are. Let us know, and we’ll beam them to sickbay. =^=

The away team would be forgiven for thinking the doctor was somewhat excited; after all, up until now, he had just been watching them from the bridge.
