“I’m free now, so please have a seat,” Sair said, gesturing once again to the seating area.

Songz herself, moved over and took on the arm chairs, turning to face Devin and broke into a soft smile. “So, you’re here all the way in the Delta Quadrant on what has become a very notable posting. What brings you here?” she said.

Devin got herself settled and grinned at the counselor. “Lucky transfer I would guess. I am not afraid of new things and enjoy meeting new folks so why not?” she said lightly. She wasn’t sure about all the exact details in her transfer, she didn’t question it much, beyond the fact that it was a different ship type than her previous, and she was very much looking forward to checking the ins and out as best she could.

Sair grinned. “It’s a useful stance to have out here for sure. What was your last assignment like and what are you expecting from this one?” As usual, she would just flow with the conversation where it flowed. Nine times out of ten, these evals just served as a touching point for new crew, a place they know they can turn to if things got challenging. But of course she was looking out for the tenth one, that would require additional discussions and work for both parties.

“Was like any other I would say, there were the jokers, the ones that are only there to make the family proud, and rest was mixed some for research and some are just waiting for something better. I joke when it’s the right time or to return a prank if someone’s started that but beyond that I enjoy my work in security investigations and where ever else they have me going.” Devin said lightly. There had been a few that had used their rank to abuse their power but proving it and getting those that had been wronged to agree to give the details etc had not been going well. She left everything from her investigation behind with Chief Hollowell, hopefully he’d sort it out. Or she would see some of those folks on different assignments in the coming years she figured.

Sair grinned. She thought it interesting and telling that Devin responded to her question by talking about the people and not necessarily the work itself. “Well, I can’t speak to the practical joke possibilities on this ship, as I’ve not seen it so far myself. The Manhattan has a dedicated crew but I wouldn’t say that as a whole it’s too serious. I think it very much depends on your department and the people you are around.’

“What about being here? Investigations might only be a part of the job. What do you hope to get out of your time here?”
