snippetThe docking procedure didn’t take as long as Devin had figured, she and the other transfers disembarked the shuttle in short order and she got the directions to meet with the shuttle bound for the Manhattan.
The shuttle was named Bronks. which got a few soft laughs from some of the other transfers being brought out to the Manhattan. Devin settled into her new seat and held her Sakura blossom bonsai in her h
“Commander we show an incoming shuttle. It’s the Bronks from Event Horizon.” The ops officer announced. Shedda looked up from the PaDD in her hand. “Open channel.”“Aye Cmdr. channel open.”
=/\=USS Bronks this is the Manhattan. It’s good to see you. You’ve made good time.=/\=
=/\=We did Manhattan. It’s good to see a familiar face. Permission to dock?=/\=
Shedda looked at the tactical officer who needed. Their codes and signals were correct. =/\=Permission granted Bronks.=/\= Shedda nodded and the comms officer closed the signal. She stood up, “Well, let’s see if I can beat Cochrane to the shuttle bay to greet our new arrivals this time.” The bridge crew chuckled, it wasn’t likely.
Mal’athar, XO
Devin was the fourth to disembark from the shuttle a few minutes after it was secure in the hanger bay. She had her duffel over her shoulder her Sakura blossom bonsai, in left hand and transfer orders in her right. She grinned slightly as the folks before her started talking about their departments and looked past them to see if there was anyone to check their orders.
The inner doorway parted as she was straightening up in the line the person behind muttered under their breath that kids shouldn’t be in uniform, Devin glanced back and grinned cheekily at the taller human man, “Cé mhéad teanga a labhraíonn tú fear dian (How many languages do you speak tough guy-Irish).”
The man blinked at her frowned and laughed shaking his head, “No clue what you said there but I will apologize for calling you a kid.”
Devin nodded and turned around as the folks in front of her had moved forward to start speaking with a higher ranked officer.

(OOC: I used google translate for that if it got anything wrong feel free to let me know and I’ll happily correct it.)“I’m not entirely sure, but I would imagine it was something about not judging by appearances.” a voice with a slight British accent said from behind the line of new arrivals.
The speaker was a human male. He was tall, over six feet at least, and had the build of someone that was no stranger to exercise. Jet black hair caused the piercing blue eyes to be even more intense; although the slight smile on his face gave him an air of approachability. He was on the younger side of most officers in the red uniforms of Command; especially considering the Fleet Captain rank adorning his collar.
“I am Fleet Captain Alexander Cochrane, Commanding Officer of this fine ship we affectionately call The Manny. On behalf of the Executive Officer Commander Shedda Mal’athar and all the Department Heads, I want to welcome you aboard. Please, find your quarters, stow your belongings, …” and he smiled at the diminutive Security Officer holding the plant, “… water any companions that may need it…” which ilicited a chuckle from the group, “… and then begin your check ins. Medical and Department Heads are standing by to meet with you, and each of you has an appointment with Counselor. If you have any questions, issues, or needs; please let your DM or immediate supervisor know. Otherwise… welcome to the Delta Quadrant.”

Shedda had been standing by the door, waiting for the new arrivals to finish disembarking. Hearing and seeing Cochrane appear out of seemingly nowhere made Shedda grin. She made her way toward the group.
Devin spun around along with the rest of the group at the sound of the voice behind them, when her eyes landed on his stature and piercing blue eyes she had a moment of giddiness. Sweet Green Killarney! His eyes are gorgeous. the thought was to herself and then she gave herself a mental shake, he’d just introduced himself as the Commanding officer of the ship and Fleet, he was not someone to get moon-eyed over because of his absolutely gorgeous blue eyes though it would have been worse if they’d been fire-light-green, the colors of such gorgeous eyes was a source of distraction for Devin; when dealing with anyone. She felt her cheeks redden slightly at the light joke about watering plants among settling in to the ship. She noted the other names mentioned and grinned cheekily as Alexander Cochrane, finished speaking. She paused to allow for any of the other new crew to say something in return when none seemed to do so she piped up brightly. “Thank you for the welcome Sir!”
She waited a beat to make sure he was dismissing them and then about-faced and followed the others towards the doorway for the interior of the Manny yeah she could get used to that lighter use of a ship name among the crew. She had no idea what came next but she was more than looking forward to finding out each new thing.

“And I’m Cmdr Mal’athar.” The Orion woman spoke aa the group turned back around. She had flawless line green skin, blue-black hair and electric blue eyes. Her smile was especially bright from her slightly darker green lips. “The Captain has already welcomed you aboard, but let me extend my own. My office is always open if you need anything. Ops will help get your larger items delivered to your quarters and Chief Kiv has your berthing assignments.”
Mal’athar walked over to Cochrane. “How do you do that?” she asked with a grin.
Mal’athar, XO
Cochrane smiled at his XO. “Can’t tell you. Fleet Captain secret.” and he chuckled. He watched the line move ahead and nodded to a few who greeted him, and then he looked at Kindle. “Ensign. Welcome. I hope you and your Sakura bonsai arr comfortable and enjoy your time on board. If you need a place to care for it, the Manhattan has full green-space. Trees, shrubs, vegetable gardens… the works. You are welcome to plant it, if you like.”

Shedda grinned, “I have a ways to go then. I look forward to being in the know.”
Devin had to take a moment; giving herself another mental shake, after the XO finished speaking as she noticed yet another person with absolutely stunning blue eyes. Of course nearly everyone was hands and more over her head, in stature but that was fine she was used looking up at everyone. It was just slightly distracting when the person had fabulous eyes. She grinned cheekily as Cochrane mentioned the green space. “Was a parting gift from a good friend Sir, I will take care of it myself, but if my friend sends any seedlings my way. I will happily share with the crew in the Green space. Thank you for letting me know.” She then turned to follow the other transfers before she made a fool of herself further by staring at Cochrane’s or Mal’athar’s gorgeous eyes. Devin privately hoped that there were not too many more folks among the crew that out ranked her, with just as stunning gazes. she was going to be in trouble otherwise.

Cochrane waited for the new arrivals to be outside of earshot and he looked at Mal’athar. “She has zero poker face.” and he laughed.

If Devin had heard that comment she would turned around and retorted something along the lines of “Just wait until there’s a game to win or when I am actually working I will happily surprise you.”
She missed it though due to the folks around her talking in excited tones as they headed into the corridor and beyond. She took note of her quarters and wondered if her roommate had any allergies. If so she might end up planting the bonsai in the garden area after all. Though the name suggested Andorian. she didn’t know of any allergies for them at least from her time at the academy. Devin gave a mental shrug and figured one thing at a time.

Shedda watched the young ensign move out with the rest. “I have a feeling it’s only if you stare at her with those eyes of yours.” The XO chuckled. “We’ll see what Cmdr Fayth says. At least this will be one officer that’s not taller than him.”
Mal’athar, XO
Into the area walked the COS himself, in all his 5‘5’’ glory, brown hair casually brushed back. He had the black eyes of a betazoid. “We’ll see what Commander Fayth says about what?” He said, looking at Shedda and smiling. Then his gaze sweeped across the room and landed on Kindle and he smiled, “Ah, hello! You must be my new Security officer.”

Devin paused at the doorway and turned she mentally hoped that the speaker didn’t have another set of startlingly gorgeous eyes. She met the gaze of the person who’d spoken the word’s “Ah, hello! You must be my new Security officer.”
Devin nodded her head softly, “Ensign Devin Kindle investigation specialist is what I studied most but I can fill pretty much any role you need from security that you care to assign to me.” His eyes were nice but from the distance she wasn’t sure if they were black, purple, or violet. He was under six feet but still he was a good several inches taller than her 4‘11” stature.

“I’ll keep it in mind.” Eilah said with a smile. “Focus on settling in for now. We’ll get you settled duty wise when you report officially. I’m newer here myself, but Manhattan seems like a good ship. I think we’ll both quite like it here.”
