It had been a couple of days since his arrival. Eilah was still settling into a new routine. He found himself with some downtime, and besides his own department, he had yet to meet more of the crew.

Turning toward the lift, he asked the ship’s computer system where the XO was, and then headed there.

=/\=CMDR MAL’ATHAR IS ON DECK7 AUXILIARY BRIDGE.=/\=

The auxiliary bridge was 1/3 of the size of the main bridge and was tightly packed with various Cree doing routine maintenance on the equipment and consoles. They rarely had reason to use the space, but Shedda would not want to get caught needing it and things were not up to spec. She had just come around from the science station to sit in the center chair when the lift opened.

“Apologies if you’re busy, Commander.” Eilah said as he stepped off the lift and caught sight of all the crew working to upkeep the equipment. “I’m the new Chief of Security. Just making my rounds, getting to know everyone.”

Shedda stood giving him a bright white smile surrounded by her lime green lips. “Not all Cmdr. Please come join me. I’m mostly here so if anything goes wrong they can all point at me and say it’s my fault.” That elicited chuckles and snickers from around the space. “Have a seat. How was your trip out?”

Mal’athar, XO

Eilah stepped onto the auxiliary bridge with a smile and a chuckle. He took a seat when invited to do so, wherever was available to do so. “It was long. Very, very long.” He said, and smiled again, “Though not unpleasant.”

Shedda moved a stack of cabling and other engineering bric-a-brac out of the way. “You’re joining us from SB 52 aren’t you? That’s a planetside station? How are adjusting to being in space again?”

“Yes. It’s a fine station, but I was ready to be done with planetside assignments for a while,” Eilah responded. “Quite well. The motion, the humming of the engine take some getting used to, but I think once you’ve been on a ship for an extended period of time you never really forget how it goes.”
