Making her way down to engineering, Shedda was looking for Kaia. Shedda had met her very briefly before Kaia had gone home to visit family. Shedda wanted to make sure the Galdori ensign was settling in and adjusting to being back aboard the Manhattan. Entering engineering she was pointed in the direction of her query and made her way over. “Good morning, Ensign. How are you today?”

Mal’athar, XO

Kaia was stuffed into a small access area that humans couldn’t easily reach, tweaking a valve that had been causing some issues. Her feet and tail stuck out the opening to the area, the end of her tail twitching as the concentrated. Hearing a voice, the raka twitched her tail once, then shouted. “Just gonna be a sec, then I can talk.”

She finished the adjustment, then used her flexibility to wiggle out of the little hole, looking up at the woman who had requested her attention. She kipped up, jumping from her back to her toes with remarkable easiness and gave the XO a small bow of respect.

“I’m doing well, Commander, how are you?” She vaguely remembered a lunch with the woman before her departure, perhaps? It had been a long two years and a lot had happened.

Kaia, Engineer

“I am doing very well today, thank you.” Shedda turned, “Come walk with me, Ensign. Don’t worry your work will hold.” Shedda began walking toward the main corridor outside of main engineering and the turblifts. “How was your trip home?”

Mal’athar, XO

Kaia nodded slightly and wiped her fingers on her uniform to get rid of the most offending dirt. Her small toes tapped almost silently against the floor as she followed after Shedda - she only wore footwear in situations where the terrain was hazardous, and main engineering wasn’t one of those places.

“My trip was lovely. After spending three straight years in the Delta Quadrant, it was nice to spend some time among my family again. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for the crew of the Voyager. Seven long years with the risk of never making it home at all…” She shuddered slightly, then looked forwards with curiosity. “Where are we going?”

Kaia, Engineer

Shedda stepped onto the lifts and called for Deck 8. “Seven years is a long time to have no contact with the familiar. Of course we often serve in the alpha and beta quadrants without seeing family often. Part of the strain of the Delta, I think, is that we know how truly far from home we are. I have to admire their determination and the family they built in order to survive it.” Shedda was quiet for a moment. “It is very important that we look out for each other, that we become a community that helps each other. Make sure we are all okay.” She stepped off the lift and moved down the corridor and stopped before a door. “Counselor Songz’s office. You are overdue for your onboarding evaluation.” Shedda pressed the chime.

Mal’athar, XO

“It’s harder to get communication going, that’s true,” Kaia was thoughtful as they walked along the corridor, stopping with a look of suprise as they reached thr Counselor’s office. “Oh. I thought I had taken care of that, but I suppose that I hadn’t. My apologies.”

Kaia, Engineer

“Come on in.” The voice held an accent very rarely heard aboard Starfleet vessels. There was a rolling lilt to it that matched the cadence of her speech.”

Inside, Sair was sitting at her desk, finishing some patient notes. Standing fairly tall for many humanoid species, the Kobliad had straight pink coloured hair that fell to her chin. Her light brown eyes were deeply set amongst the prominent vertical facial ridges that split her hairline, intersected by thinner horizontal ridges. s she looked up, her base expression gave her something of a stern look. Most definitely on the lean side, the counsellor worse simple black trousers and a dark blue tunic that she had adopted in her previous stint on a Starfleet facility: her version of a uniform. She did have a standard combadge though.

A large area rug in muted blues, greys and greens spanned half of the therapy area in front of her desk and she had set a small round coffee table in front of a small sofa and two arm chairs, all in a blue-grey colour. Behind that was the desk she sat at, with two basic chairs in front and a pale wooden shelving unit to the left by the replicator.

Next to the door was a stone sculpture that was half the height of the door. Carved out of white dolomite, it was a miniature replica of the giant tree that was in the lobby of he Assembly Complex in Kobliad’s capital. The tree had a wide trunk with the appearance of a thick bark and was easily deciduous with sweeping branches with teardrop shaped leaves. Carved around the trunk of the tree were arms with hands seeming to hold the tree and they wound themselves up the trunk.

“Hello,” Songz said, gazing up and smiling, which softened her facial features. “What can I do for you?”
