After finishing the hookup to her hardware, Faye stood back and took in the scene that was her lab. Her lab. She still got a slight thrill when she said it, and even though she technically might have to share, so far no one had come in to work in here. Either there was no need or people had already figured out not to bother. She admittedly wasn’t worried if the latter was true.

“Not bad at all, Calloway,” she said. Rubbing her hands together she moved to begin tidying up all the bits and pieces and make the room much like any other lab, aside from special equipment hooked up to the the room’s isolated computer core, and some to the rest of the ship. It was time to start testing her hypotheses.

Leaving the lab and locking it, Faye moved through the ship with her toolkit in hand and found the jefferies tube access point she needed.

A few minutes later, the specialist was sitting on the floor of a jefferies tube section and had her case open. Tools in hand, she was working on a particular pathway leading to the computer core. She felt nervous. Understandably so, but at the same time Faye knew there was no help for it. She knew that unless everything went accordingly to plan, it would all blow up in her face. At least at first.

Why did they insist on this ridiculous story? It would have been much easier to just do the work with at least most of the truth on the table and then do the other bit with less sneaking around. But apparently Calloway wasn’t so lucky. No, she was a perpetual guinea pig for people’s whims.

She was about to enter some commands, when her promise to others shifted through her brain. Faye tapped her commbadge. =/\=Calloway to Wynter and Hammor. Be advised that you will notice an increased power draw in Jefferies Tube Section 14-Gamma-3, near computer core 4B. The increase should last about thirty minutes and should not exceed twelve percent. If it does, I intend to shut down the draw, which should be initiated within two minutes of going above the expected draw.=/\= Basically, if she didn’t, there was something wrong.
