The turbolift chimed quietly as a Vulcan male stepped off out onto the corridor of deck 8. He pulled out a PADD and pulled up a map of the ship as he slowly navigated down the corridors of the deck. He moved a bit more quickly after a few minutes of studying the map. After a few minutes of careful navigation the man stood outside of the councilor’s office. He took in a small breath before he reached up and pressed the call button next to the door.

“Come in,” a voice sounded from the door.

Inside, Sair was pulling a mug out of her replicator. Standing fairly tall for many humanoid species, the Kobliad had lilac coloured hair pulled back off her face with a black soft headband. Her light brown eyes were deeply set amongst the prominent vertical facial ridges that split her hairline, intersected by thinner horizontal ridges. Most definitely on the lean side, the counsellor wore simple black trousers and a dark blue tunic that she had adopted as her version of a uniform. She did have a standard commbadge though.

A large area rug in muted blues, greys and greens spanned half of the therapy area in front of her desk and she had set a small round coffee table in front of a small sofa and two arm chairs, all in a blue-grey colour. Behind that was her desk with two basic chairs in front and a pale wooden shelving unit to the left by the replicator.

Next to the door was a stone sculpture that was half the height of the door. Carved out of white dolomite, it was a miniature replica of the giant tree that was in the lobby of he Assembly Complex in Kobliad’s capital. The tree had a wide trunk with the appearance of a thick bark and was easily deciduous with sweeping branches with teardrop shaped leaves. Carved around the trunk of the tree were arms with hands seeming to hold the tree and they wound themselves up the trunk.

She smiled at the Vulcan and gestured towards the sitting area. His choice. “Welcome to my office. What can I help you with today?” she asked before sipping from her cup, sweetness wafting through the room though there was a spicy undertone.

Sovrk stepped out of the doorway, which put the man into the office. Much like before he seemed to look around the office in a almost cold netrality. When his eyes glanced over the sculpture he made a small sound, something that sounded like a soft grunt. Seemingly his face seemed to wash with the smallest hints of approval before his attention returned to the counciler. He took a few more steps forward before he spoke. He stood in his spot in an attentive pose arms folded behind his back he seemed to kind of present himself “Good afternoon. I am Lt.J.G. Sovrk. I am here for a psycological evaluation to declare me fit for duty.” He explained in a somewhat powerful and somber tone. He sure seemed confident in and of himself. He at least seemed self discovered enough to know who he was. He moved forward and offered her his hand. “A pleasure.”

Kobliads were not a touchy-feely people on the whole (especially with strangers), though that often applied less to Sair than others of her species. Still, engrained habits struck deep, and even though she was well used to being amongst other species, it sometimes caught her off guard to expect touch during a greeting. And yet, Sair also welcomed the gesture. She found a compromise between the two inclinations by taking Sovrk’s hand and giving a bow of her head before releasing his hand.
“Welcome to the Manhattan, Lieutenant, I’m Sair Songz. Doctor Songz if you prefer to be more formal. Why don’t we have a seat and you can tell me about your transition to the ship. This is your first Department Head position, correct?”

Sovrk grasped her hand gently making the contact brief. He then in turn bowed his head to her. “Thank you Doctor Songz. Yes, this is my first appointment as a Department Head. It is nice that it would be upon a prestigious vessel sucj as the Manhattan. I feel that I may be up to my ears in work.” Though it was an obvious joke, it sounded off coming from the semi monotonious Vulcan. “And we are in a vastly uncharted region of space to my understanding. Though I could be wrong.” He said as he raised his hand to his chin and adopted a thoughtful pose, even if his face did not share in the expression of thoughtfulness.

Sair sat in one of the arm chairs and nodded, amused at the joke. “It’s mostly uncharted, at least from a Federation perspective. We have the records from when the USS Voyager came through some of these regions but a lot of our mission is pure exploration and first contacts. It’s pretty exciting, don’t you think?”
