I have always used single asterisks, and I have brought this issue up with Joe, who suggested it may be possible to shift the bolding function that the single asterisks do now, to double asterisks, in the future.

Honestly, I would prefer to continue using single asterisks for thought, especially if it gets fixed as such.

I always used the single * at each end as well, it always looked so much clearer with that appearing in the text that I always knew it was thought, same as how we use =/\= for communicator dialogues.

Perhaps just a double asterisks for thoughts

Probably now worth noting is that on this new site, snipping is extremely important for people reading on phones. This thread alone now requires a phone reader to scroll for a very long time as the first posts are reduced to around two or three words per line, and you can’t zoom out very far in order to find your spot faster. It’s going to play havoc in longer threads… so people better learn to snip. It also seems that the select and drag feature has changed too, I can’t seem to select what I want to snip on my phone anymore.

I generally leave snipping to the command staff as I might accidentally snip out something that needs to stay for some reason or other.
