“Absolutely,” Sair said. “I’m sure he’ll love it.” She had been keeping her mother’s news quiet for the time being and when she was ready she’d share it with Shedda, but she fully expected Koro might leak his recent time at the daycare centre when she and Kel had had dinner with Cochrane.
Koro bounded out of his room with a stuffed tribble, which had been a gift from one of science staff who had babysat for her once. She was horrified once she had learnt what a tribble actually was, but so long as no one mistook it for a real one, it would be fine. “All ready!”
Shedda smiled at the stuffed Tribble. She was sure no one would bat an eye. Real tribbles were a menace which was why they were one of the ‘bio hazards’ scanned for on incoming supply shipments. Shedda grinned, “Awesome. Let’s go.”
Sair smirked. “Have fun and listen to Shedda. No running off, you hear?” Koro flashed his mother an impish grin and nodded. All Sair could do was offer Shedda an apologetic look and mouth the words ‘I’m sorry’.

She just gave Sair a grin and rushed out the door after Koro, scooped him up like he weighed no more than a paperback book and lifted him up onto her shoulders. It was a common sight where she grew up. They all took the kids in hand and spent time with them. All the littles spent a lot of time sitting on shoulders. Holding onto him, she looked up at him. “How’s that? Now you can see everything.”
Shedda
Sair just waved as they left, smirking to herself. She wasn’t worried about Koro and thought it would be good for Shedda. It was also good for herself as well as it forced her to trust others with Koro. It wasn’t that she couldn’t let him be around others, but that after those months apart she almost couldn’t bear long stretches without his bright presence. It was getting better though.
Koro giggled. “I’m so tall! Where we go, Shedda?” he said in Standard, flexing his words now that he was more comfortable with the woman.

Shedda grinned at his excitement and his adorable giggle. “Well you know how you told me the ship is SOOO big? I was thinking I could teach you how to get home no matter where you were. Then Manhattan would be so big, would it? Where is somewhere you visited with your mom or grandma already?”
Shedda
“Garden!” he said. “I like the pond.” Koro had bene other places but that was the one he went to most often and was firmly entrenched in his mind.

Shedda grinned, “Alright, let’s go.” She made her way to the nearest lift. “Alright Koro,” the XO took a knee in front of the lift, “Can you push the call button? That will tell the lift to stop for us.”
“I know,” he said with a smile. “Mira lets me press button.” He all but stabbed the call button with his chubby index finger.
Then she stood smoothly and ducked low when the lift opened. “Okay Koro, tell the computer who you are and where you want to go?”
Mal’athar, XO
He looked up at her before looking at the panel and chewing on his lip. “Koro! Go to garden… please?” He looked back at Shedda with wide eyed hoping he had done it correctly, even though the lift moved and the light changed showing they were changing decks.
~Koro
Shedda grinned at him and winked with a nod as the lift took off. It slowed to a stop, but before the door opened the computer chirped. “Koro, this is not your stop. Please stay on the lift.” The doors opened to admit an ops officer who gave Shedda a nod and a polite wave to Koro before turning to face the door, “Deck 10.” The lift took off and paused again. “This is your deck Koro, please follow the dots to the garden,” the computer chirped.
Shedda stepped off the lift with him and pointed at the LCARs display on the wall. “See the large blue dots? Those are for you. If you follow them they will take you where you want to go.”
