Songz chuckled. “Alright, I consider it my sworn duty to keep you from ruminating.” She rose to her feet. “Come by my quarters in say forty-five minutes, an hour. Something like that. I am going to finish up here and go check on my son and mother.”

Shedda grinned. “I will see you then.” She picked up her PaDD and returned her glass to the replicator. With a nod she left Sair’s office and headed back to her own. There were several notes she wanted to get entered before the thoughts left her.
Shedda saved the last note and left her office. She had just enough time for a shower and change. She changed into pair of what used to be solid black heavy canvas cargo pants that were now a dark faded grey tucked into work boots and cotton soft and a purple wrap blouse with the cuffs rolled and pushed almost to her elbows. Shedda arrived with just a few minutes to spare and rang the chime.
Mal’athar, XO
Sair had family quarters, and though her mother had her own space in guest quarters, Kel spent most of her time here with Koro when they weren’t roaming about the ship.
“Come in,” Sair’s voice called over the comm.
As Shedda entered, there was a small blur followed by Sair whose arms were faster than the blur and swept up the small boy, tossing him over her shoulder as he giggled. “Come on in and make yourself at home in the chaos,” Sair said, exasperation leaching into her tone as she moved over to the sofa and set Koro down.
The space was kept mostly tidy, with a dining table and sitting area. Koro’s toys were mostly kept to some baskets on one side, but clearly some had been strewn in a path towards the couch. Sair had attempted to decorate but it was mostly just some soft throws on the couch and arm chair, a colourful rug in greens and blue under a round wood coffee table and a few fake plants dotted about the place.
The toddler had brown hair that was parted away from his eyes by the gentle forehead ridge that intersected his hairline. He sat there with an impish grin as she gazed at Shedda with dark blue eyes.
Meanwhile, Sair had changed out of her work ‘uniform’ into a pair of dark grey leggings and a loose stretchy tunic in a dark green. She set a stack of plates on the table and turned back to the XO. “Shedda, this is Koro. Koro, this our first officer and my friend, Shedda,” she said making sure to pronounce the name clearly for her son. Koro just gazed at the newcomer with curiosity and maybe a tiny bit of apprehension.
