Shedda tapped out a message to Cochrane, ‘In addition to our other candidates, I spoke to Sair and she suggested we look at NL jg Car’ex for aCoS.’ she attached the file for him to look over. Then she turned to the next file and paused. “I think,” she stood and stretched, “we may finish these today, but I am fine if you want to break and start again tomorrow. We only have medical left.”

It would be a push to finish today, but they had been at it for quite awhile. And yet, having to come back to it tomorrow when they were so close when they were in a rhythm with it all seemed pointless. “Let’s keep going, but since we’re been at this so long, how about dinner after? You can always meet my mother and Koro then.”

“That sounds like a plan.” Shedda glanced at the PaDD as she resumed her seat. “Chief Petty Office Nesyav. Says he’s a medic and is requesting approval to enter officers’ school for nurse training. I’m inclined to approve it. I don’t see a reason to deny anyone a chance to expand their training. His supervisor supports it, but have you spoken to him about it?”

Songz shook her head. “No, he’s not come to me. His last eval was just before I arrived, so he’s due one soon, but we’ve not met. I don’t think a chat with the counsellor is required if he wishes to take a step further. I agree that if someone wants further training they should be given the opportunity. I certainly took it myself,” she said with a chuckle. “I won’t get involved, but I am happy to chat with him at any point should there be any nerves about taking a new path.”

Shedda grinned, “I did as well and I think it’s wonderful when people take in new challenges.” She signed off on it, schedule changes would have to be made to accommodate class and training needs, but Shedda was sure that has ready been considered since CPO Nesyav’s supervisor signed off.

“The next on the list is Ensign Merker. There’s been some notations of lateness on her file. No outright insubordination but definitely some clashing during night shifts. Not sure what’s going on there, but I could probably deduce it after a meeting, or at least see if further action is warranted. I don’t like punitive action as a first step, so aside from asking her to have a chat with Doctor Wynter, I think this might be my realm.”

The XO nodded. “I think a meeting would be beneficial. There may be some underlying issue that should be addressed there. Let’s see what happens after you talk to Merker.”

“Next is Nurse Knapp. She’s taken several continuing ed courses, picks up extra shifts and is well liked by the rest of the dept and the patients. She has a glowing review. I’m inclined to approve her promotion.”

“Same. I see no reason to withhold that next step. She has the makings of a good leader as well,” Sair said, before stifling a yawn.

“Okay, last one is Doctor Mitchell. My only concern is a bit of flippancy in regards to patients. A part of it seems to be just a weak bedside manner, as their work is flawless and they obviously know what they are doing as a doctor, but I’ve worked with physicians like this before and they tend to accumulate patient complaints and it’s time before there’s an actual incident.”
