“Cheers!” Gavin said, sipping from his drink. “You know, I don’t doubt she’s armed in some way, but I tell you ever since we were kids, all Shara needed was her death stare. Damn right intimidating that. It’s not improved in all these years,” he said with a grin.
Two women approached and the older one, with darker skin and ebony eyes, slipped a hand on Gavin’s shoulder. “Have we started talking shop yet?” she asked innocently, though her eyes gleamed.
“Oh give me some credit, Love,” Gavin said, kissing her on the cheek and then grinning. “I’m not here as a Captain, despite the uniform.”
“She’s just being realistic,” the younger woman said.
Gavin laughed openly and shook his head. “Outnumbered entirely here. Captain Alexander Cochrane, Revna McKenzie, this is my wife Taleel and my daughter Lahala.”
Revna turned her gaze on the two women and smiled. “L’kash-em solir-e. Morblas fal aelas.” (Much joy and peace on this happy occasion.) For the second time that day the women were greeted in Betazoid along with the familiar facial and small hand gestures. “It is a pleasure to meet you both.”
McKenzie, DA
Taleel beamed. “Such a lovely welcome we’ve had, thank you,” she said, bowing her head.
Revna smiled bowing in a very brief but extremely old world fashion. “I am very happy to hear that. We spend a lot of time welcoming potential new friends, it is good to welcome old friends as well.” The ‘we’ and ‘friends’ carried almost as what used to be called the ‘royal we’. Taleel would feel quite easily that Revna was very open and honest and genuinely pleased to welcome and meet them.
“A true pleasure. Welcome to the Manhattan.” Alex said and shook their hands in turn.
“You have a lovely ship, Captain,” Lahala said. “Daggum gave us a bit of a tour earlier and it’s very impressive.”
“Thank you. She is a true wonder.”
“And we’ve seen a few over the years,” Taleel added before turning to her husband with mock concern. “Not that the Hampton isn’t just as lovely.”
“You wound me,” Gavin deadpanned.

Alex smiled. “The Hampton is a fine vessel. I saw her…” and he thought for a moment and then said “… six or so years ago. DS Five. She was the last Star Fleet vessel I did a Security inspection on at the station before leaving for the Klingon War College. Beautiful ship.”
Cochrane, CO
Gavin grinned. “I took over as CO three years ago. I’ve been enjoying the ship. Great crew, then again we captains are always biased,” he said with a laugh.
The speakers by the dance floor sounded and Nadine was holding a microphone. “Good evening everyone, our bride and groom will return momentarily, so if you want to all find your seats I think we should give them a proper welcome to their reception.”
Shara wasn’t far so found her chair, waiting for Micah to join her.

Revna quickly grabbed a plate and food and found a place at the table.
McKenzie
“Is this seat open?” Walker asked as he stepped up to the table next to McKenzie. He carried a plate in one hand, and a glass of champagne in the other. While not his normal drink, he was willing to make an exception for tonight.
Darach
Revna looked up and waved at the seat with a smile. “By all means, Mr Darach, please.” One of the kitchen staff passed with a tray of glasses. Champagne really wasn’t her drink of choice, but she grabbed a glass for the toasts and sat it to the side of her glass of mead.
