Daggum nodded, and made sure use his bulk to keep the press of people from overwhelming Faye. “Just married and already telling me what to do… whatever have I got myself into?” he said with a grin and shook hands with well-wishers.

After a little bit of absorbing all the congratulations, Faye whispered to her mother that they were going to take a short break and share some time alone before they kicked off the party. With a nod to Lieutenant Kahf with whom she prearranged this little moment, she slipped her arm through Daggum’s. “You’ve done your surprises, now it’s time for a little one of mine,” she said, gazing up at him, adoration felt deeply in her core.

Gathering the short train of her dress, she led him up the path past the reception area, all the way past the pond and up to the Hill. She kept wanting to stop and kiss him but determined to get knew there would be plenty more this evening. Navigating carefully in her heeled boots (which she wisely made the choice to go with a chunkier heel), Faye led him up, and up to the top, to her favourite spot in the garden: the bench beneath the dewdrop tree where they could look over the garden from above. “I thought we could get a few photos here, in this special spot, if that’s okay?” Kahf was waiting just below, giving them a moment.
