Shedda blinked behind the eye mask and yawned widely as she sat up. She flipped the sunlight lamp off and removed the mask. She stood up, padding on bare feet into the living space. She pressed the control to open the door as she ordered a glass of decaffeinated coffee from the replicator. She turned surprised to see Sair, but knew instantly why she was there. Or she thought she did. “Counselor Sair, please come in. Can I get you anything?”

The Kobliad stepped in and shook her head, even as she smiled. “It’s just Sair, and I’m fine thanks.”

She tapped the padd against her hand. “So, as you probably know, I was requested to do a home eval for your adoption proceedings. It shouldn’t take too long but the quicker we get through it, the faster I can send my report in, as you know.”

Shedda nodded, downing a large glass of ice water, the cold waking her up some more. “Of course Sair, please whatever you need.” Shedda waved an arm around to encompass the entirety of her quarters. “Maava’s room is over there. It’s a little hard, it’s been a few months and they grow so fast. I’ll probably have to recycle some of the clothes and toys.”

“They do grow fast,” Sair said, flashing a grin. “Surprisingly fast.”

Songz began a slow circle of the room, making notes on her Padd with a stylus. “Have you arranged childcare? A job as busy as yours, you’re going to need support there.”

Shedda nodded, “The ship has day care for all shifts. I’ve already spoken with them about her unique dietary needs and I’ve requested an extra sunlight lamp for them to keep there for her. If the adoption goes through, my father will be traveling out here with her. He intends to stay for a little while, and the request has already been approved. He’s rather excited to be a grandpa. Said he’s going to make the most of his time. I’m sure there may be times I may want someone to come here and not the day care, but it’s so hard to know who to ask until I know who Maava will take to.”
