Alex kept his gaze on the console in front of him, but he grinned. “Giving your man and your mom some time alone might be a good thing. He seems to have a calming effect on you Calloways.” and he chuckled. “Besides, if your Uncle says something stupid and Shara tries to kill him, Daggum could probably keep him from any real life-threatening stuff.” and he laughed. “Now hush… I have Captain-y things to do.” and he jabbed a finger at the comms.
Faye, in all her maturity, stuck her tongue out at Alex and resumed her watch over the sensors.
=/\= Harbinger Dawn, this is runabout Leonidas, Captain Alexander Cochrane and Lieutenant Commander Faye Calloway. The Admiral is expecting us, I believe. =/\= The response was quick. =/\= Leonida, the is the Dawn. You are expected and most welcome. The Admiral insists you dress comfortably and when you dock, you will be escorted to the Hub. See you in eight minutes, Captain. =/\= The two ships synchronized guidance systems and Alex leaned back and looked at Faye. “You are gonna pee your pants when you see this.” and he laughed again.

“I know the specs on the ship, but are you really trying to tell me I’m going to be impressed by a crisp clean ship with state-of-the-art labs? Pfftt!” It was feigned and had it been someone who knew her less than Alex they might have thought her serious. But her stormy green eyes held a glint.
“I’m glad we’re not expected to wear dress uniforms. It was that, the duty uniform, or my wedding gown. Personally, I think the dress uniform would have bene a bit much,” Faye quipped.

“Oh, I know the ship isn’t going to have you gawking nearly as much as me… but a four-phase quantum entangled scram-drive with triple-relayed isolinear data cores and a multi-layered synthetic intelligence interface will probably have you squeeling like a little girl.” Alex said as he finally relayed to Faye what she was going to be ‘playing’ with for the day. “The Hub is a multi-spacial data processing center connected to the entirity of the Federation database… including stabilized sub-space data feeds from over sixteen hundred systems pulled up in near-real time. Thats part of what your project in the comms on the Manny gave us. And you get to be the first to use it to compress and analyze Intel data. In short, you get to spend the day playing with the most advanced ship’s computer in the known galaxy.” and he grinned.
Alex
When the need arose, Faye had an excellent poker-face, but the lovely thing about having Alex in her life is that she never needed to use it with him. Well, at least anymore. Her eyes grew wide and then narrowed slightly looking to see if this was some sort of trick. Wait, her project did what? Really? Sure, she had worked really hard to not only create a secondary fire-wall for the ship’s computer network, but her hand-coded programs had then in turn allowed her to make the distortions caused by the wormhole nothing more than blip on a screen.
Shaking her head, Faye looked ahead as they drew close to the dawn’s shuttle bay. “Shit. this is one helluva wedding present. I hate playing the game of comparison, because I know Daggum won’t give two figs, but he wins this one. Again.” She shot Alex a lopsided smirk. “Want to know what my wedding gift to Dag is?”
~Faye Calloway
“Absolutely.” Alex said as he tapped a fee commands into the console and the runabout banked gently to the left and the Harbinger Dawn came into full view.
Now, their home - the Manhattan- was no small ship. In fact, it was not only the largest science vessel in the fleet, it was built on a Dreadnaught frame… making it one of thr largest ships in all of Star Fleet.
The Dawn made it feel positively claustrophobic. With four warp nacelles and over thirty decks ensconced in the saucer section alone, it the definition of massive.
“Holy… look at those forward arrays. They’d punch a hole in the shields of any vessel in the Klingon fleet!” Alex exclaimed softly.
