Faye shook her head. “Dag can do whatever he likes, but I like my name and, well, it was my father’s and I like carrying a piece of him with me. No name change for me.” She looked at Alex. “Just say Daggum and Faye, Husband and Faye.”
~Faye
Cochrane looked out on streaks of light before them and smiled. “Faye, half of you is your father. You carry more of him with you than just his name. But trust me… you’ll want Dag’s opinion on this. Might not be a big deal for you, but it might for him. Or it might not, who knows? I mean, its not like he’s holding onto some great family history or anything.” He turned and looked at her. “You know… if someone told me when I first met you that not only would you turn out to be one of the most important people in my life, but that I would be marrying you off to some Orion logistics expert who also happened to be an escaped pit fighter after you had built a forest on my ship… I probably would have laughed… a lot. But somehow… it all seems very natural in dealing with you, Faye.” and he smiled and turned back forward.
She snorted. The weird comment about not caring about patriarchal norms floating out of her head unsaid.
“Don’t lose that, Faye. Your affinity for the unexpected is a good thing. It really, really is…”

“Duuude, as if,” Faye said, eyes still on the console. “If the Romulans couldn’t torture it out of me, life can’t. It could try, but I’ve got nine lives baby. Well, I think I’m down four now, so five left. Plenty left to give whomever needs it the middle finger,” she said, flicking her gaze to Alex.
Awhile later, the sensors beeped. “We’ve got the Harbringer Dawn on short-range sensors. ETA is fifteen.” Was she nervous? Yes. Faye had no idea what all this was about and Alex and Dag had been far too good at keeping secrets. Had she done her work as the Intelligence Officer she was, she could have figured it out, but that was the whole point. She didn’t want to. She wanted the surprise. Goodness, she had changed, hadn’t she? But it was a good change. She was more adaptable, able to flow with the situation better. But that was in this place where the Manhattan was her home. Moving to the Athena? Well, that was entirely different game and try as she might to figure out all the permutations of that change, she knew it wouldn’t matter until she had boots on the deck.
She let Alex do whatever it was he needed to do, but a thought came to mind and she smirked. “I’m trying to decide if it’s a good thing that I’m here and not on the Manhattan when the rest of the family arrives. Mom’s too good at her job to create drama on my wedding day, but it’s amusing to think that she might have to treat the event like an op. For all our sakes,” she added with a wink

Alex kept his gaze on the console in front of him, but he grinned. “Giving your man and your mom some time alone might be a good thing. He seems to have a calming effect on you Calloways.” and he chuckled. “Besides, if your Uncle says something stupid and Shara tries to kill him, Daggum could probably keep him from any real life-threatening stuff.” and he laughed. “Now hush… I have Captain-y things to do.” and he jabbed a finger at the comms.
Faye, in all her maturity, stuck her tongue out at Alex and resumed her watch over the sensors.
=/\= Harbinger Dawn, this is runabout Leonidas, Captain Alexander Cochrane and Lieutenant Commander Faye Calloway. The Admiral is expecting us, I believe. =/\= The response was quick. =/\= Leonida, the is the Dawn. You are expected and most welcome. The Admiral insists you dress comfortably and when you dock, you will be escorted to the Hub. See you in eight minutes, Captain. =/\= The two ships synchronized guidance systems and Alex leaned back and looked at Faye. “You are gonna pee your pants when you see this.” and he laughed again.

“I know the specs on the ship, but are you really trying to tell me I’m going to be impressed by a crisp clean ship with state-of-the-art labs? Pfftt!” It was feigned and had it been someone who knew her less than Alex they might have thought her serious. But her stormy green eyes held a glint.
“I’m glad we’re not expected to wear dress uniforms. It was that, the duty uniform, or my wedding gown. Personally, I think the dress uniform would have bene a bit much,” Faye quipped.
~Faye, Bride-to-Be
“Oh, I know the ship isn’t going to have you gawking nearly as much as me… but a four-phase quantum entangled scram-drive with triple-relayed isolinear data cores and a multi-layered synthetic intelligence interface will probably have you squeeling like a little girl.” Alex said as he finally relayed to Faye what she was going to be ‘playing’ with for the day. “The Hub is a multi-spacial data processing center connected to the entirity of the Federation database… including stabilized sub-space data feeds from over sixteen hundred systems pulled up in near-real time. Thats part of what your project in the comms on the Manny gave us. And you get to be the first to use it to compress and analyze Intel data. In short, you get to spend the day playing with the most advanced ship’s computer in the known galaxy.” and he grinned.
