She cocked an eyebrow at him. “Oh, don’t be so certain, Love. I know Alex all too well. He’s not above a little embarrassment for a cheesy and romantic outcome. Trust me. Expect at least some mild teasing.” But that did solve one issue of her nerves. The longer the ceremony went on, the more being in the centre of attention had the possibility of triggering her anxiety. She jotted a couple things on her padd.

“So that’s a no to writing our own vows,” she looked up again. “Good. I figured we could get all mushy and stuff at the reception with speeches. At least then the pressure is off. It’s a party after all. But!” Faye leaned in, resting her weight on one arm on the desk. “I had this idea, something people did back on Tracken. During a joining ceremony of any kind, the officiant stood at the top of an aisle, like many Earth traditions. The witnesses walk up the aisle together and stand on either side of the officiant. Then the couple walks in from opposite sides to meet each other at the bottom. Then they walk up the aisle together. When they come to a stop, the guests gather in an unending circle together, with the officiant at the ‘top’ of the circle, with the couple in the middle. They’re surrounded by those they’ve chosen to be there. I always thought it was special, you know. Something a little different.” After telling Revna about it, it had stuck with her and filled her with warmth, as it did now.

Daggum grinned the grin he got when Faye… hard-nosed and chaotic Faye… waxed sentimental. =/\= You know you are cute when you get squishy. =/\= and he chuckled. =/\= But that does sound really amazing, so let’s do it. Absolutely. So now that you have your two items on the agenda handled… check your messages. =/\= and there was a beep on her end.

=/\= There is everyone’s travel itineraries. All the shuttles and transfers have been scheduled and cleared. I hope you and Alex don’t mind, but I had to call in a favor to get you guys picked up and here on time. Once through the wormhole, you’ll rendezvous with the… oh what was the name… oh right…=/\= and he grinned the grin he got when he was especially proud of something.

=/\= The USS Harbinger Dawn… right. It just slipped my mind. =/\= he said slyly. The Harbinger Dawn was the largest dreadnaught in Star Fleet. Crew complement of thirty six hundred not include the Marine ground personnel or the aviation wing. Wait, not ‘wing’. ‘Wings’… with an ‘s’. Three of them. All total around five or six thousand personnel… all under the command of one Admiral T’sul; one of the most decorated officers in Star Fleet history. The ship was a dream come true for anyone assigned to it, and each one of the officers was handpicked by the Admiral. It was also home to the largest deployed cryptographic contingent in space. Daggum grinned at Faye and said =/\= Oh, and yes… you get to play while you come here. My wedding present to you. =/\=

Daggum

Faye’s jaw dropped open and for a moment she felt her breath was caught in her throat. Threads of thought split into tangents that she then had to work through to their natural conclusions in order to fully process what he was saying. Because he had just dropped a lot all at once. They were stationed in the Delta Quadrant. The assumption had been that any travelling guests would have to come to the Manhattan. But to change location entirely? That was a whole hell of a lot of strings to pull. Which only made her stare harder at the man she was marrying.

She slapped a hand over her mouth. One, he had rearranged a major fleet vessel to be in a different quadrant JUST FOR THEIR WEDDING! Two, she got to go play on a ship with a massive crypto lab that put her DIY Computer Science Lab to shame. And three, when she travelled with Dag to the Athena it would be a relatively short jaunt. After their honeymoon, of course.

Her eyes darted back and forth as just realized just how easy the logistics over one overly sentimental object she’d been distraught to leave behind but had said nothing to anyone, knowing it wasn’t possible to just uproot the whole thing without damage. Not through a wormhole and extended travel. But on a large vessel that would get them back to his (and her new) home? It was possible.

“We could bring the mushroom house!” she blurted out, entirely sure that that wasn’t what he’d have been expecting her to say.

Daggum paused for a moment and then chuckled as she shook his head. =/\= Yep… I knew that would cross wires somewhere… can’t say that I expected that result, though. =/\=and he laughed. =/\= How about one, no we can’t because it won’t fit on the shuttle meant to get you to the Dawn; and two the mushroom house is a great idea, but we could just build one here. There is time and I could probably find space somewhere. How about that? That work =/\=

Recalibration. Faye blinked but it was like resetting her brain for a moment. She exhaled slowly. She wanted to be sure she understood what he was saying. “So… we’re not getting married on the Manhattan?” she asked, her voice becoming quieter. While she had planned on them marrying in the garden, if that changed, well she could just go with it, right? Because he had gone far out of his way to make these arrangements and she was loathe to ruin that for him. Compromise. That was a marriage thing, right?
