Main Engineering- A Visit

Entering from Deck 16, Faye surveyed the upper levels before finding the ladder and quietly making her way downwards to Deck 18. It had an air of efficiency, she had to grant them that and it boded well for the man in charge. If she garnered any strange looks, Faye appeared oblivious though of course she was not. She was, as always and especially on this ship, very acutely aware of everything happening around her- for necessary reasons, of course.

Reaching Deck 18, she didn’t bother climbing to the last rung and simply hung herself off the adder for a moment, before dropping to the deck with a graceful and quiet landing, absorbing the shock through her body.

Her eyes travelled up as she walked forwards to the core and when she raced she guard rail, she looked down as well. It was a pretty awesome view, truth be told, and since she was more than a little engineering inclined, she could appreciated the view others on the ship might take for granted. Resting her arms on the rail, she simply gazed at the warp core, with it’s mixture of gases in their still state that indicated they weren’t going anywhere fast. In fact, they were still at base, of course, but she could imagine in her mind’s eye the pretty view when that thing revved up.

Faye was sure there were more than a confused glance or two her way, especially given that her sciences blue uniform stood out amongst the expected gold of the engineering and operations crew that worked here normally.

A man quietly slid into a spot on the railing beside where Faye admired the view, and for just a moment said nothing. He himself wore the yellow of Operations and had Lt Cmdr pips on his collar, but the slightly scruffy look to the stubble he wore and a tunic that had creases in non regulation places spoke of a man either too busy to waste time on details, or with a mind always working ahead of the present.

Head turning er grey-green eyes, evocative of a stormy sea, took in the man beside her, recognizing him immediately. But she said noting as she took up his position beside her.

Leaning forwards in an almost perfect imitation of Calloways pose, he also looked at the core a moment before turning his head to take in the woman beside him. “Your a long way from Kansas” he told the science blue woman beside him with an ever so slight grin. “Dont you be bringing any twisters In here though, it could be a little hard to explain and nobody got no time for that.”

Her brows lifted as she frowned slightly. “Kansas? Twisters? I feel like I’m missing a reference here.”

He turned and faced her fully, his arms still resting on the railing. “I’m Max, Chief Engineer of the Manhattan. Can I help you at all or are you just admiring the view?”

Lt Cmdr Max Wynter, CE

“A bit of column a, a bit of column b,” she replied, before offering him her hand. “Faye Calloway, Mission Specialist. I just came aboard and am doing the rounds with the people my work will inevitably affect,” Faye said simply.
