Xeal followed Faye into the lab and the doors closed silently behind them. Watching Faye looking around the lab he noticed that she had suddenly become quiet and looked a little distant.

“Faye are you alright? You’ve gone quiet and a little distant.”

She looked over at Loss. “Yeah, I’m alright,” she said softly. “Just… reflective.” Faye gave a sort of lopsided grin. “Did you know it’s been almost 5 years since I’ve had a standard assignment. My last one I was still trying to get better, so I don’t really count it, but the last one before that was probably the biggest step I’d taken in my career. It had been good. Walking into this lab made me think about that and I guess I’m just hoping this assignment is the same.”

“Not to worry I’m sure you will do just fine. I was in a meeting with the Captain earlier and you wouldn’t even been on board if somebody didn’t think you were the best at what you do. And in my book that will make for a significant step in the right direction for you career. For all we know you might be promoted before me and I would have to salute you. He said with a grin.”

Faye chuckled slightly. “I highly doubt that, but the sentiment is appreciated for what it is.”

She exhaled slowly. “Well, anything else I should know about you and your department? I know I’m only loosely attached, but we will be working closely together at times,” Faye said. He seemed genial and easy enough to get along with. She’d see how that impression stood up in time.

“Just that I am having a Department meeting/Team building excersize in the lounge at 17:00 that I would like for you to attend.” Xeal looked around the room. “I hope you enjoy the space.” He then made his way back to the door then turned and looked back at Calloway. “It has been a pleasure to meet you Faye, I look forward to working with you.” He then walked out and walked down the hall a little ways and went into science lab 1.

“I suppose I should check out my own lab to get it all set up.” He said to himself.
