Faye slipped her hands under one of the trays and winked. Despite the tray wanting to bend in her hands it was still pretty sturdy. Enough that she wasn’t worried as she moved over to the side where the top was really just gridded wire on an open frame to form a bench top. She slipped the tray carefully on top and pushed it to the back, close to the windowed side and where the simulated light would make it’s way in. “Pop it beside and I’ll grab some covers and watering trays.”

Reaching underneath, Faye brought up some clear domes and larger watertight trays with a wicking mat. She put the insert into the water tray and laid the mat over top, resting the seed tray on top with the dome completing the set-up. “So, grab the water again and fill the lower tray up about half way. Take a walk every day and wander in here. Never let the seedlings dry out by making sure there’s still water in the tray. The mat will wick up the water and keep it available to the roots once they get established. When you see that most of the cells in the tray have germinated, you can take off the domes. They just maintain ideal humidity and warmth and improve germination. Questions?”

“Dozens. But the 8nstructions seem simple enough.” and he grinned and gave her a wink. “A walk everyday, he? Well… I guess I should follow directions, then. A walk a day it is. Now then… whats next? We’ve weeded, watered, wallowed, and wondered. What’s left?” and he smiled.

Faye chuckled. “That’s all I got on the garden end. Outside of the garden is a different matter and, well, I don’t know if I need hand-holding or not, but the next thing I have to do is contact a certain uncle of mine and invite him to a wedding have has no idea is happening. Faye broke into a grin. “But then I’m going to call my mom and give her a heads up about it but also I’m going to ask her to stand with me when I marry Dag. It seems right, somehow. She should be more than just a guest, albeit it an important one.”

Alex laughed and said “Yeah… thats fitting. Wonder who Hammor will have as his best man? Hmmm… maybe your new dad?” and he shot a grin at Faye.

Faye snorted. “I would not put it past him, but he has a really close friend that’s coming and I suspect it’ll be him. I’ve not met or talked to him before, but from what Dag has said, I think he’ll be the one at his side.”

Blowing out a breath, she looked around the greenhouse, at the space where small things were nurtured, both with plants and people. Shifting her gaze back to Alex, Faye nodded. “The seedlings will be fine. Jus keep a watchful eye on them and when the roots have filled up the cells, then they’ll be ready to transplant. We got time yet though. But I’m going to go call Gavin, and you’re more than welcome to be a fly on the wall or sit it out. Your choice. But Alex? I am sorry about Zef. You deserve love too. It wil come,” she said, her voice quiet and sure.

~Faye

Alex looked at her for a long moment and then shrugged slightly. “If it does, it does. But I’m not going to waste any more of my time dwelling on it. And for that, I have you to thank.” and he smiled. “C’mon… let’s go see this uncle of yours, shall we?”
