The expression on Faye’s face froze and it was a long moment before she blinked. “Well, you’re already pissed, so…” Faye shrugged. ” It’s hardly the first time I’ve had to start all over with a new therapist, and I’m sure it’ll happen more times than I prefer, but it’s something I have to deal with, right? But its… hard Alex. I don’t think people realize how much effort and energy goes into rehashing my situation and the nuances that make it all make sense. And there’s never any guarantee that the next person I deal with will have direct experience with my disorder. It’s not rare, but it’s also not all that common either. But I’m aware that I’m leaning more heavily on you than I might otherwise, so despite your shrugging it off, it does mean something.”

Alex took her hand and squeezed it.. “Well… how about I promise to always have a couch for you to crash on? Be that for amateur therapy or just a place to hide from the galaxy for a few days… you’re my other sister, Faye. My home… wherever that is… is yours too.” he said with a look of utmost sincerity.

Lest anyone ever think Faye Calloway was truly level-headed, she threw herself forward (only mildly mindful of their precarious perches) and enveloped Alex in a hug. At least she planted a foot so they didn’t topple off their seats. “Good,” she murmured, “Because at least you are all too painfully aware that I’m a full-on friend, drama included. So you bet I’ll take you up on it at some point.”
Pulling back, a look of guilt swept across her face. “And here I was supposed to be cheering you up and it became all about me. I’m sorry,” Faye said sincerely. And she was, even as she understood that this was how their friendship worked. They both gave the other exactly what was needed when it was needed. It was just that in Faye’s case she felt like her ‘help’ to Alex took some sort of stealth form he was more aware of then she was. It was one of those things where she had learned to just go with it or else drive herself to distraction trying to figure it out exactly. And she was sure that to outsiders, it looked like an unhealthy and unbalanced friendship. But they didn’t know her and they didn’t know Alex, so… screw them.

Alex laughed. “You did help, Faye. And by doing just that. I needed to focus out more than in. I think I’ve wallowed enough. Time to breathe… and move on. We can’t change the past, right? All we can do is try not to make the same mistake twice. So! No more overt sadness. Just healthy introspection from time to time. Now then… where do we put these little guys and gals to rest until we transplant?” and he looked at the planted marigold seeds.

Faye slipped her hands under one of the trays and winked. Despite the tray wanting to bend in her hands it was still pretty sturdy. Enough that she wasn’t worried as she moved over to the side where the top was really just gridded wire on an open frame to form a bench top. She slipped the tray carefully on top and pushed it to the back, close to the windowed side and where the simulated light would make it’s way in. “Pop it beside and I’ll grab some covers and watering trays.”
Reaching underneath, Faye brought up some clear domes and larger watertight trays with a wicking mat. She put the insert into the water tray and laid the mat over top, resting the seed tray on top with the dome completing the set-up. “So, grab the water again and fill the lower tray up about half way. Take a walk every day and wander in here. Never let the seedlings dry out by making sure there’s still water in the tray. The mat will wick up the water and keep it available to the roots once they get established. When you see that most of the cells in the tray have germinated, you can take off the domes. They just maintain ideal humidity and warmth and improve germination. Questions?”
