The new counselor had arrived on board and Shedda, not only to set an example, but she was due for her yearly evaluation. Shedda never avoided these as she understood the need for them and she never really understood why others went so far out of their way to avoid it. Shedda was a very private person so she didn’t turn to the counselor every time she had a hard decision to make or doubted herself. She worked through them on her own, but if she couldn’t right to the counselor’s office she would go.

And not only her own evaluation to cover, Shedda wanted to meet the newest person on the senior staff. Songz was not an officer, in fact she was civilian and through an exchange program, and Shedda had never spoken with a non-Fleet counselor. She was interested to see how the experience and perspectives might be different. With that in mind Mal’athar arrived promptly at the office on deck 8 at 1400 for her meeting with the new counselor. She pressed the chime and waited.

“Come in!” a cheery voice sounded before the door allowed for entrance.

Standing in the middle of her modest office, Songz wore a puzzled expression as she stared at the wall. Standing fairly tall for many hUmanoid species, the Kobliad had lilac coloured hair pulled back off her face with a black soft headband. Her light brown eyes were deeply set amongst the prominent vertical facial ridges that split her hairline, intersected by thinner horizontal ridges. Most definitely on the lean side, the new counsellor worse simple black trousers and a dark blue tunic that she had adopted in her previous stint on a Starfleet facility: her version of a uniform. She did have a standard combadge though.

Staring at her first first of personalized decor- a painting sitting above the small sofa- the giant splashes of colour were making her frown deeper. “Is it too much?” she asked, casting a brief glance at Ma’athar.
