USS Manhattan
Songz Arrival
Gathering her bags, Sair moved over the the runabout’s transporter pad. While not a common mode of transportation for her, she had once again grown accustomed to it in the few weeks since she had left Kobliad to do some refresher training and then make her way out to the wormhole.
Sair had to brace her hand tightly as it opened up and their ship slipped into the vortex. It was beautiful. Terrifying, but beautiful.
A brief transfer at Event Horizon and Sair had gone to rendezvous with the Manhattan, her new home.
Tiny kispa bugs bounced around in her stomach as she realized how far away from Kobliad, and Koro, she was and exactly what she was about to do. But she inhaled deeply and remembered the decisions that had brought her here. And Kal.
She had gone to see the former Starfleet officer and her partner, Tol, before she left. After returning to Kobliad after her first exchange stint, Sair had regularly visited with Kal and her daughter Tai- the first child born free of the mutation and whom Sair had helped deliver. For a former emergency room physician, returning as a counsellor and to look upon that chapter of her life with new knowledge helped her understand even better how courageous people like Kal and Tol had been. How courageous she herself had been.
Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a large round holographic locket, sans chain. Squeezing the sides activated the image of her and her son and she smiled. Yes, this was worth it, of that she had no doubt. A moment later, the air shimmered and Sair beamed off the runabout.
Her new view was of a transporter room and Sair stepped off with one bag on her shoulder and another in hand. “Hi! I’m the new counsellor. I’m supposed to go see the Captain. Can you tell me how to find him?” After the transporter chief confirmed Cochrane was in his ready room, and gave her directions, Sair set off through the corridors after the chief said he’d make sure her bags got to her quarters.
And promptly got lost.
To be fair, she had spent her travel time reading as many personnel files as possible and the whole idea of looking over the ship specifications never occurred to her. Now she wished she had.
What deck was she on anyway? Ah well! She’d figure it out. And as she wandered, checking the labels on doors, Sair started to hum.
In the ready room, the comm sounded. =/\=Transporter Room One to the captain. Our new counsellor just arrived and I’ve sent her up to you.=/\=
