Shedda finished composing a memo to the department heads asking them to either come by her office at their convivence or to provide her with a time to visit their department. Shedda would eventually go down to each department to look around, either way, but departments had their own rhythms and schedules, and the last thing she wanted to do was show up in the midst of a whirlwind and stress everyone out. Surprise inspections did have their purpose and were required by regulations on occasion but Shedda didn’t believe in commanding through surprise.

I would like to take the time to introduce myself and get to know each of you, in person. As I understand what is involved in running an entire department please let me know if you prefer for to meet in my office or for me to visit you in your department. Please let me know a day and time that is convinient and will cause the least disruption to your work.
