Faye grinned. “Computer protection and infiltration.” Basically, she was a hacker. “I’ll be in charge of encryption and decryption protocols and any encounters with alien technology that interacts with our computer system. While we have protocols and programs in place, Starfeet is aware that even with the wormhole, we are more on our own out here and they though it best to have someone who could provide these skills directly on board. Plus, with all the scientific and cultural data we’ll accumulate, I can package it in tidier data packets back to Starfleet. Which is why I also have a higher security clearance than most scientists you’ll see assigned to the ship.”

Xeal took this information in absorbed it and got thinking that Calloway might be a section 31 opritive. Why would a logistics/computer specialist need such high security clearance. “Well I doin’t really care about what you do as long as we stay out of each others way we both should get along just fine.”

“My goal is to be as little of an imposition as possible. I can’t guarantee that what I do won’t affect others, but i’m going to try everything I can to keep any disruption to a minimum. I just need you and everyone to remember I’m doing this for the ship’s security. It’s important,” Faye said seriously.

Draning his cup of his tea. “Have you spoken with the rest of the department heads to check in with? If so I can take you to your lab.”

“I’ve done my boarding evals, yes. Now I’m doing the rounds to see those I’m working more directly with a lot of the time. So, by all means, I’d love to see the Deck 13 labs.” Her lab. She knew it wasn’t probably meant that way, but still, it was sort of nice to hear, as if a small space of the ship was carved out just for her to find her way in. Careful Calloway, you’re starting to sound like a romantic, she chided herself.

Xeal put down his glass and stood up and made his way to the door. He paused briefly and walked out the door.

“So you say you will be working with the computers, I assume you will be upgrading our security protocols. I have noticed a few holes here and there.”

“That I am. I’ll be patching those, as well as working on new protocols and compression methods that will get the data we send back to Starfleet there intact and secure. Wouldn’t want any meddling enemies from the Voyager years trying to find out things we don’t want them to,” she said with a grin.

They walked down the hall to the turbolift. The turbolift doors opened up and two NE’s walked out greeting them both. Xeal walked onto the lift. =/\= Deck thirteen.=/\=

“So, am I going to be in Lab One or Two, and how much of it do I get to myself?” Calloway asked pointedly. How may people were hanging about at any given time could help or hinder her work, so she wanted to be prepared.
