Damn him! But as they proved on that first day, they could resist temptation if they wanted to. But did Faye want to? Not really. Her brain had already concocted a plan for securing a shuttle (good thing she knew the station’s crew fairly well) and their picnic.

Stripping off her clothes as she went, Faye followed him into the shower.

Though slightly delayed, Faye was yet again content and as she dressed in something good for dancing later (satin cargo pants and a sleeveless beaded shirt- both in black), she mused that having every day with Daggum now was going to make being apart hard. She knew that, but as she turned her engagement ring around on her finger, she also knew that it would ultimately be worth it. They had a future together and it was bright indeed.

~Faye

Daggum dressed in black linen pants and a dark blue collared shirt that was open almost to the middle of his chest. He looked at Faye and said “As always… you look amazing.” and he smiled at her. Offering her his arm, he said “Shall we go abscond with a shuttle, then?” and laughed.

Daggum

Faye chuckled. “”Well, I might have been exaggerating a tad about the stealing part, but I do have a plan…”

Ten minutes later down at reception, Faye asked the hotel staff to arrange a large hamper of foods suitable for a picnic and then called in a favour with one of her data scientists. They booked a shuttle for her under her credentials but it was approved by the station’s CSO, even though it was for personal reasons.

A few minutes later, with a hamper on one arm and Daggum on the other, Faye walked into the shuttle bay. As they boarded, Faye started going through pre-flights as she periodically gazed at her fiancé. “So, are you up for dramatic or serene?”

~Faye

Daggum looked at her flatly and said “Faye… I’m marrying you.” and he looked out the viewscreen.

“Yeah, and…?” she quipped back with raise brows.

“I’m always up for both.” and he grinned and then looked at her and winked.

With a chuckle, she inputted a flight plan and sent it to Operations to get their clearance. Once she got the thumbs up, she started up the shuttle. “A dramatic flight for a serene picnic sounds about right,” she said as they left their berth on the station.

Once given clearance, Faye kicked them into impulse until they got far enough away and then shifted them into warp. “I know I told you about my time with the Tal Shiar, but I never did tell you about that hair-raising chase back to Federation space, did I?”

~Faye

“Faye, if we are recreating some kind of desperate flight to freedom, I really didn’t wear the right shoes.” Daggum said with a smile. “But in answer to your question… no, you haven’t. Is there story time on this flight? I should use this service more often.”

Daggum

A throaty chuckle ensued. “Haven’t you learned yet that I’m full of stories, Dag? All part of the service. And the best part is that the better a person knows me, the more interesting the stories get,” she said with a wink.

“So, I’m half-drugged out of my mind after nine months playing guest to the Tal Shiar and my helper, who I now know was my mom, get me to my shuttle, the one improved a bunch fo stuff on and roughed up a bit at the same time to look like it was stolen. I’m sure there’s a story as to why the Romulans didn’t destroy it, but nonetheless it was still there. Mom gets me on board and injects me with stuff to help wake me up essentially. By the time I can focus, she’s long gone and all I remember is this Romulan woman rushing off. Well, I don’t waste time and hightail it out of there,” she said, watching the stars zip by through the viewscreen.

“Before too long, the Romulans are on my tail. Two warbirds, and I think ‘I’m dead. Might as well make it as hard for them as possible’. So I pull out every evasive manoeuvre I know, including some old Maquis tricks and we do this fantastic dance all the way through to and through the Neutral Zone. All I’m trying to do is get across the border enough to shake them off, but they weren’t likely to go away without some encouragement. So I sent out a distress call.

“I managed to cross over the line but they fired a shot while they were on their side of the border that does in most of what was left of my systems. I’m thrown forward, head hits the console and I black out. Next thing I know I wake up and everything is fuzzy, but I’m no longer on the shuttle and there’s someone near me. My eyes look around and it sure as hell looks like the Samurai, which the Tal Shiar would use sometimes that simulation to try and trick me into letting down my guard. But I’m not playing their game any longer, so I jump off he bed, despite there still being a cocktail of stuff in my system and I swipe a laser scalpel off a tool tray and grab the nearest person I see, who just happened to be this poor engineering ensign who was fixing a biobed.”

Faye shook her head and leaned back in her seat. “And the rest, they say, is history. But that flight Dag?” she said, her eyes calmly fixed on the blur of stars. “I hadn’t felt so alive as I did on that chase. It wasn’t just the adrenaline, but it was this overwhelming desire to go home, even though I didn’t know where home was. I just knew it was back in the Federation.” She turned her head to gaze at the man her heart now clung to with everything it had. “I couldn’t process the ramifications of what all just went down, but before I was captured I had considered staying with the Reunification Movement. But it wasn’t where I was meant to be.”

~Faye

Daggum looked at her and smiled. He reached out and took her hand in his and said “No… you are meant to be here. With me. Telling me stories and letting me fall in love you you just a little bit more every day.” He turned and looked out the viewscreen. “You know… for as big as the galaxy is… for as many circumstances and situations and paths people can take…” and he looked back at her, “… I think some things just are, regardless of anything else.”
