Now that the ship had left Event Horizon and was back to its normal assignment of exploring the Delta Quadrant, Zef and Alex couldn’t have all their meals together. It was midday when she entered the officer’s mess and chose a table that sat next to a viewport. She had some free time and planned on sitting there, drinking coffee and contemplating the universe. With the changes of the last few weeks, she had a lot to think about.

As soon as Harv saw her, he made her a cup of strong, creamy coffee and placed it in front of her. Zef smiled up, gratefully. “Thanks, Harv…I’ve been looking forward to this all day!!”

Since she’d gotten the news that she was, indeed, pregnant, the counselor had limited her caffeine intake but always had a cup at lunchtime.

“Can I get a cup as well Chef?” Walker said walking up behind Rollo. “Finally found a break long enough to get down here for not some replicated coffee.”

As he waited he turned towards Rollo. “Commander, how are you doing today?”

“I’m very well, Chief. Would you like to join me?” She gestured to the other seat at the small table and gave Harv a wink as he headed off to get another cup of joe for the WO. “I promise not to turn on my counseling super powers, so you can just relax and have a cup like I’m going to do.”

Walker chuckled, “I was about to say that I’m not sure I have enough time for a session right now.”

Taking the cup that Harv brought out to him, he took a first sip and let out a sigh. “Perfection as always, I’ve been needing this.” Walker paused for a second, just enjoying the taste and aroma of that first sip. After a couple of seconds he turned back towards Rollo.

“I’d be happy to join you, it would give me a chance to enjoy this cup without someone trying to blow something up around here,” he said pulling out a chair at her table and sitting down. “I hope I’m not interrupting your quiet reflection time or something Commander.”

Zef chuckled, “Not at all. I’m here for the same reason you are…Harv makes the best coffee in the quadrant.” She took another sip and set the cup back down. “So, while we were at Event Horizon, did you do anything exciting?”
