“Hopefully make me day better than the one he’s apparently having,” she said, pointing to the computer terminal with a somewhat amused expression.

“Well, you be hard pressed to have a worse day than he’s having.” Hammor said with a chuckle. “Have a seat.”

Grabbing a seat at the desk, her stormy grey-green eyes took in the COO with curiosity. “I’m Faye, as you probably know, having spoken earlier. Consider this my requested meeting that you said I could drop in for.” There was an intensity with her that even under her best training had never been fully removed- it was just a facet of who she was. Or at least it was her go-to demeanour these days, for which the crew of the Manhattan would find themselves unexpectedly grateful for. Previous crews… well, some of those poor souls would barely recognize the teal-haired woman.

“Excellent. So tell me… what is it your are going to be doing on our fair ship? Oh, and do you want a drink? One of the advantages of Operations: my office replicator has the largest database on the ship.” he said with a wink.

“Just a coffee with milk would be great,” Faye said.

Hammor moved to the replicator and retrieved the coffee, and a large pitcher of unsweet iced tea for himself.

“As for my job, I’ll be in charge of sensitive data transmission and protection, both within the ship and as we send it back to Starfleet periodically. We already have most of what we need in place, but my job is to be flexible and adaptive to the Manhattan’s needs. In my previous… life, shall we say, I have had experience in both on the spot encryption and decryption. A computer can work faster than me, but nothing beats the creativity of an unorthodox mind,” Faye said with a grin.

Hammor listened and nodded a bit. “I like unorthodox. Keeps me on my toes. So what is it you will be needing from OPS? Other than the aforementioned equipment which is ready for you, by the way.”

Faye sipped on her coffee before she responded. “Mostly just system access and the occasional taxing of the computer processors. Most of the time it’ll be simulated ingressions that I will then be doing real work to counter. But simulations won’t always cut it and I’ll have to program some actual events, if controlled ones, to test the protocols. Since you manage ship resources, I thought it best I was up front with you before I delved in. I’ll be mostly working with both Science and Engineering, but there will be times when I’ll be working independently and I didn’t want to surprise anyone with a sudden outage because I ended up blowing relays near my processors,” she said with a nonchalant shrug, as if such a thing not only could occur but was likely.
