Daggum leaned in and breathed deeply right next the nape of her neck, and the placed a single small kiss there. “Not at all… I actually really like it. It makes me think of… holidays, maybe? And a fireplace. Somewhere… safe.” and he placed a hand gently on the small of her back and walked with her out of the restaurant.

She smiled at the thought. Yes, that was similar to what it was to her too. “I’m going to put some on, and I think I want to put a little strategically around your room, if you don’t mind. I think it would be a useful precaution and will keep me grounded no matter what.”

“Absolutely. And if you have the recipe, I may just do that when I go back. Keep me thinking of you… like I need any help with that, though.” and he smiled down at her.

Once they had cleared the door and the line outside, Daggum took her hand and placed it on his arm, matching her pace as they walked through Event Horizon. “So, love… what now? We have the whole night ahead of us…”

Daggum

As they walked, Faye realized something very simple: they kept falling in stride with each other. It wasn’t a conscious thing either, and given he was so much taller than her, it was strangely notable. She grinned at him. “Well… if you had asked me earlier when we first arrived I would have said a cozy evening where we retire to our own rooms. But now?” She shook he head. “Uh uh. No, that just won’t do. I am very curious about dessert though. And of course a nightcap,” she said, her eyes dancing with delight, mirth and definitely desire. She was definitely not talking about the alcohol she wasn’t allowed to drink.

Daggum smiled and said “Dessert will be waiting when we get there. But before we do… ‘retire for the evening’…” and he chuckled and grinned at her, “… there is one more spot we have to go to. Unless, of course, you just can’t wait… in which case it would give us something to do tomorrow… you know… after breakfast.” and he winked at her.

Daggum

He had been so patient, so understanding and this whole time he kept clearly thinking of what would make her happy. And a part of her knew that her being happy made him in turn happy. But Faye realized that she wanted to make him happy too. That a lot of her actions had been about that just as much as doing things for herself to help her move forward. “Daggum Hammor, I’d go with you to the ends of the Universe. So if there’s something you think we should see or do, I trust. So show m,” she said brightly.

Daggum smiled and said “As you wish.” and he immediately steered them off the main concourse and towards a different section of the station… one reserved for residents and visiting dignitaries. “So I spoke with the Ops Chief here, really nice lady. And I may have steered her a case of her favorite Deltan wine in exchange for some… unfettered access to a part of the station off-limits to non-residents.” They approached a single lift access and stepped inside. “Okay, close your eyes. Trust me. I’ve got you.” and he stepped behind her and put his hands on her waist.

Walking in the boots was fine… when she could see, but Faye was solid in his grasp. “They’re closed,” she said with a cheeky grin from in front of him. “

“Keep then closed till I say open.” he said as the lift began to move.

Daggum

Though they were in a lift and she was expecting it to move, not having your sight to ground you was always a little unnerving. She wobbled a little but she knew he still had her. “Commander Q’Teel in Ops, I know her well. She and I get along quite well actually. We share a dislike of people who ask redundant questions when we’ve already given the needed answer. I appreciate her efficiency.” The talking helped that weird sense of not being able to gauge the passage of time.

The lift slowed and stopped, and the doors opened.

Fresh air… there was fresh air wherever they were. And then the smells came through: pine… citrus… earth… florals… woods…

“Ok, open them.” Daggum said softly.

They were standing on a metal platform… in the middle of a massive garden. Straight above them was the same transparent ceiling as teh restaurant, but all around them were hundreds of different types of plants. Trees were planted and were several meters taller than Daggum. And to the practiced eye it looked like a well planned and well designed arboretum, to the layman it would appear as if they were simply standing in the woods.

“So the plants are chosen to provide maximum oxygen generation. That supplements the permanent residence’s life support. Also allows for fresh water. The atmosphere and climate controls were a gift to the station form one of the local civilizations… apparently they have a level of refinement in life support we haven’t achieved yet.” He looked down at Faye and said “Faye… would you go for a walk in the woods with me?”
