Daggum shook his head and smiled. “Ms. Calloway, if I didn’t know better, I would say you were making a pass at me. Careful… its not too late to cancel one of the rooms.” and he laughed.

“Tempting.” The truth was that before she had arrived on the station and even well into their wanderings together she had felt comfortable with the idea that they would go back to their own rooms alone tonight. And then maybe one of the other nights during their week together, they would venture towards being that physical. Today just went and threw that all blissfully out an airlock. Yes, she could go back to her room alone, but they both knew that wasn’t how tonight would end. And after all their discussions, Faye was really looking forward to it. It might require a couple precautions, but she could handle that.

“I love you.”

Faye grinned. “Well this would be a hell of an extravagant first date if you didn’t. Not that I’m complaining. Though I’m starting to wonder if we’ve set a record somewhere for most unusual first date or something,” she said as she moved her beef tips to the side. There were a few left but she had had enough.

Daggum grinned and shrugged. “Well, let’s see… unique venue? Check. Overt romantic gestures? Check. Dissapearing tableware? Check. Potential life-long commitment? Potential check. First date jitters? Double check. Oddly shaped food and unknown culinary explorations? Check. Love, at this point I think all we need is a clown car with Klingons driving it to make the top five most unusual dates.” At that moment, a chime beeped and Daggum said “Oh yes!!! Perfect timing! Come here…” and he stood up and moved over to the side of, but away a few steps from, the table. “Ok, Faye. This should be more amazing than the water thing.” and he held his arms out to here, beckoning her to him.

Getting up and mindful of the tall narrow heels on her leather boots, Faye walked over and slipped an arm around him, resting her body against his, the silk taffeta of her dress rustling. “More amazing that the water glasses dissolving. You either speak in understatement or have a high bar for amazement my dear.”
