Having successfully conquered yet another of the sock-beasts, the valiant Tess (very proud of herself), sauntered back to the couch. Her demeanour shifted and she hopped up on the couch and curled up with Kiama beside her, resting her head on her legs.
~Tess, the reason her person has to replicate new socks regularly
It wasn’t till the next morning that Kiama woke up again. At first she was rather confused about where she was and how she’d ended up here. Till she felt the warm and soft body of Tess next to her. Sitting carefully up, she gently ran her hand along the whole length of her small body. “Do you want something to eat Tess? Or is it too early?” she wondered.

Tess had moved with Kiama, yawning. At the mention of food, she hopped off the sofa and arched her back in a giant stretch. She let a chirped meow and trotted over to her empty food bowl and nudged it with her paw. Faye kept Tess’s supplies in the bottom cupboard of a bookshelf she had recently gotten and had left instructions for how much to give (a scoop was conveniently inside the bag of food.

“I guess that is a yes,” Kiama chuckled and got to her feet. After stretching herself, Kiama walked over to the bookshelf after picking up Tess’ food bowl on the way. Sitting down in front of it, she filled the bowl as per instruction, closed the door and then put it back down where it belonged. Once that was done she also emptied out Tess’ water bowl and filled it with fresh water.
Sitting back down on Faye’s couch, Kiama watched Tess for a couple more moments before reluctantly rising to her feet again. “I’d like to stay with you, but I think I should get going. I’ll probably stop by again later tonight.” Bending down she gently scratched to top of Tess’ head and added, “And make sure to keep fighting off those evil socks.”
With one last glance at the kitten, Kiama left Faye’s quarters, making sure that the door was properly closed behind her with Tess still on the other side, and then headed towards her own quarters.
