Black slacks, grey sleeveless turtleneck sweater and a brown suede vest. It was her casual off-duty’ uniform’ and it made her innocuous looking. Shara leaned against the wall, with the left sole of her low heeled duty boot against the wall, arms crossed, highly toned muscles showing. Her dark hair pulled back off her face let her gaze rather openly with her sharp grey-blue eyes as she tracked the target. Well, she supposed that was putting it too strongly. But she was tracking him.
If there was anything Shara Calloway was an expert at, it was hiding in plain sight when she wanted to and conversely allowing herself to be noticed. She waited until she caught a glimpse of him, the vibrant green skin only second to his height and frame, before she shifted from ‘you can’t see me’ to ‘I am here.’ Her eyes followed every movement and if she hadn’t flipped the switch, he probably would have walked right past her. Shara said nothing, but when he did look (and she know he eventually would), she was so much like Faye. It wasn’t a stretch to see the shape of her mouth and eyes in Faye’s and they shared the same calculating pale eyes, even if they were tinted different colours.

Daggum saw the figure leaning but paid it no mind… until a second glance and for a split second he thought it was Faye. But it wasn’t. Daggum slowed to a stop and his eyes narrowed a and his subconsciously turned slightly sideways… presenting less of himself to attack. “Excuse me… You wouldn’t happen to be Commander Calloway, would you? Faye’s mom?” As he said the words, he knew it to be the case and he stepped forward and extended a large green hand and smiled. “Daggum Hammor… Lieutenant Commander Daggum Hammor… but I have a feeling you probably already knew that.”
Daggum
A grin slipped onto her face and she pushed herself off the wall with the ease of someone who had absolute control over their own body. “You presume correctly,” she said simply as she shook his hand, and maybe contrary to her predatory body language, her grip was evenly matched.
Letting her hand fall away, Shara (not a short woman at all and a bit taller than Faye) looked up and gazed deeply, her eyes always assessing. “You know why I’m here. Tell me what I need to hear.”

Daggum looked at her for a moment, and then surprisingly… just smiled and said “No.” before crossing his arms on his massive chest.
“What transpires between Faye and I is our business and no one else’s. Now, I don’t care if Faye talks to you about us. She is, after all, your daughter. But I’m not going to talk to you about us. Now if this is some kind of ‘What are your intentions with my daughter?’ conversations, then I will simply say I am in love with her and I intend to be with her for as long as she will have me. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m taking her out on her first date ever and she specifically mandated that I not be late; and that means I either have to see if there is tailor worth a s&^t on this station or you are gonna have to sew some stuff. Nice to meet you, Commander. Next time you want to talk to me, try to be such an obvious a&& about it.” and he smiled and winked at her before turning to go to his room. She couldn’t see his face, but he grimaced slightly. He knew she was trying to make a statement with how she ‘appeared’ before him. But had a statement of his own to make; that no one… no one at all… was going to tell him and Faye how to be him and Faye.
Hammor
Shara couldn’t help but chuckle. He’d need that backbone on the days when Faye was triggered and tested him. It wasn’t intentional, conscious, but it was just a part of the condition that she grappled with on a daily basis, even when she was doing well. That testing could lead to explosive arguments in others and from all her learning on the matter , could destroy relationships. But at the end of the day the person with BPD just needed to know that no matter what the person they loved would choose them. They would stay. People made vows all the time. Words could be very cheap. Actions said more.
As he walked away from her, Shara just smiled. “Love her with everything you have. She’ll always be worth it.”

“Next time tell me something I don’t know, Commander.” he said without looking back and stepped into the lift. He turned and looked at her as the door closed and smiled and said “She’s safer with me than anyone in the universe. That what you needed to hear?” and the doors slid closed.
Daggum
Longs beats of her heart followed and the lift was well and truly gone before she replied softly, mostly to herself, “Yeah”. Turning, she walked in the other direction and headed back to the Manhattan.

“I was right… that is a big ‘ol boy for sure.” said a Tennessee drawl as Shara left the hotel. “If we have’ta fight him, you hold him and I’ll hit ‘em with a cruiser. That might buy us some time.” Micah slipped a hand into hers and kissed her cheek and grinned. “Now that we’ve put the kids to bed, my love… how ‘bout you let me show you around this here station and take you for a nice dinner?” and he led her off in to the station.
Mama Bear’s Back up
My love… a casual term of endearment, but coming out of his mouth everything sounded more intense, more real. Good Gods the man terrified her. Did he know that? But Shara wasn’t one to whimper and scurry away from scary things, not even the way this man was slipping through her defences. Mama Bear stood down and she squeezed his hand, offering him smile. “Dinner and a tour. You sure know how to show a gal a good time,” she said with a smirk.
As one Calloway woman set off to face her demons in a swath of silk, another was pushing hers cautiously to the side. And tackle demons they both would, with a predator’s grace and secret smile, and a healthy dose of curse words followed by a punch to the face. Like mother, like daughter.
And always it shall be.
