“I wish you could have too,” she said, gazing at him, her eyes tracing her body a little, but without the desire this time. “But then I have to remind myself that if you had been there, you wouldn’t be here with me now. And having you here is everything. More than I could have possibly have known to expect,” she said, smiling deeply and softly all at the same time. It was a smile that touched her lip and her yes, making them crinkle ever so slightly at the corners. It was love and desire, contentment and happiness, all rolled into one. It was a smile that was for him and him alone. A smile that would mean she was thinking of him even when he wasn’t there.
She had never smiled so much in her life.
Carefully slipping off him into the deep, Faye spread her hands out and propelled her self to the surface, treading water. “I really want to kiss you right now,” she said emphatically. But you’re the logistics man. Gotta avoid the drowning and all that.”

“Computer, make the water six and a half feet deep at my location.” and he winked as he was now standing on the bottom. He reached for her and pulled her to him, throwing her arms around his neck. He put his forehead against hers and said “I really want to kiss you always, Faye. From now until all the stars burn out.” and he set his lips to hers and pulled her into him, using his arms and the water to hold her as close to him as he could.

With the water to give her buoyancy, Faye was suspended by his neck, but the way he held her meant she didn’t float off away from him. Good. Because this time when she kissed him it wasn’t just a small tender thing. This time is was full and deep and eager. Arms wrapped securely, her feet slid down his legs and she hooked her toes around his thighs, pulling them closer. Half her skin touching a whole lot of hers, Faye normally would be in a dilemma right now. She had heard his statement and this time it hadn’t given her pause. Not even a little. And thus, at least for a few moments, she let that desire slip back in.

A soft moan, which was a low rumble, escaped him and he pulled her tighter, one hand sliding under her to lift her up slightly and the other with his hand on the back of her head, pressing her gently into the kiss. His eyes were clenched tightly shut and he held onto her with all of him. Her pressed against him made everything in the universe make sense… that this was the plan all along. And that surety, that confidence that he was exactly where he needed to be was conveyed to Faye through every part of him she had against her.

Her mouth hungrily pressed into his and their tongues dancing, it was like every nerve of her body was alight. And she knew if they continued much longer, they would not be stopping. And she didn’t want to, but she knew it was better. They had done everything else backwards, she wanted this one thing to be special, to be imprinted into the fibre of her being.
Pulling back and pushing back the hand that cradled her head, she whispered, “Dag,” with all the meaning that could possibly be conveyed. “I need you to trust me… let me go.” Releasing his hold on her meant she’d fall, but she knew what she was doing.

He couldn’t speak, and her voice was muffled by the sound of the blood rushing in his ears, but he kissed her once more and then he, very slowly, let her go… but not before lowering her gently into the water.

She had been prepared to sink quickly but as the motion happened slower, she had more time to get her feet under her. Still, Faye intentional dropped into the water letting it cool her off… in more ways than one. She twisted and kicked off, swimming a couple metres before surfacing.
Daggum watched her slide through the water and stared longingly as she moved. A more beautiful woman he had never seen.
Turning back to him, Faye stood in her silver bathing suit and grinned running a hand over her long wet hair. “You owe me a date, Hammor. We’ve waited this long, we can wait a little longer. So I’m going to do us both a favour and head back to my room. 1850 hours, I’ll be outside my door, ready for dinner. Don’t be late.” And with that she turned and moved through the water with intentional and quick strides, heading to the beach,
“Oh, I won’t be. I’ve waited for this for over year!” he called back to her with a smile.
But Faye turned back again. “Wait, what’s the dress code for dinner?”

Daggum dropped into the water and then resurfaced. Wiping the water from his face, he smiled.
“Formal, of course. Tonight is our first date as a couple. It should be celebrated as such.”
