Faye chuckled and shook her head. “Good thing I love you. No one rushes me,” she said with a grin as she all but sauntered into the lift.

Reaching their floor, Faye stopped at her door, holding the key card in her hand. “Dag?”

Words conveyed thoughts and emotions, but sometimes they failed a person. As she gazed deeply at him, Faye felt one overriding emotion: gratitude. Finally, knowing she needed to say something, she took a steadying breath. “Thank you. For earlier? It…” What? His actions and the way he had responded to her momentary overwhelm had made her feel seen and safe? Understood? Yes, all of that. “Just… thanks.”

Daggum paused at his own door and looked at her with an intensity in his eyes that made them seem like they were on fire. “Faye… that is what someone who loves you should want to do. And I do, so I did. If you want to thank me… just love me. Thats all I want… just you. Its been you since we met… it will be you when we are both long gone. And nothing… no injury, no illness, no episode, no anything is gonna change that. I love you not in spite of anything. I love you regardless. Parts of you are hard to wrap my head around, yes. But that doesn’t change the fact that they are still you. And all of you is what I love. Now go change. I’ll meet you out here in five.” and he went through the door.

Daggum

Faye stayed there, unmoving for a few seconds. But she was actually fine. Instead, she was letting her memory imprint this moment. His words, his expression, that look in his eyes. It was another page she was adding to her mental file on Daggum Hammor. The one that reminded her that he was different, but also that finally there was someone who just got it. Got her. “That I can do,” she whispered to the empty corridor before tapping her card and entering her suite.

A few minutes later, Faye stepped out wearing her favourite galaxy-print leggings and a black crop top that crossed at the back in an X and left her mid-riff bare. She wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when Dag suggested they do yoga in a holosuite, but he seemed game to do so himself so he was either humouring her or had an interest in yoga himself. And she wasn’t sure which she felt would be more likely. After all, if there was anything that was true it was that Dag was an unpredictable as she was. It was probably why they worked so well together.
