Shush and enjoy the ride Yeah, it was correct then and it was now too…she was kissing his neck, arms wrapped around his shoulders. “If I could” kiss “move in them” kiss....kiss “you” kiss “wouldn’t have” kiss “to carry me.” kiss. Honestly, Mike could have knocked the crowds down and stepped over them. Revna would not have noticed. Mike laid her on the bed and his intensity stopped the breath in her lungs, created a running of fast firing nerve endings that left her arms and legs shaky, sent warm chills down her spine, and the knowledge that he was her one and only, and he was answered by her own intensity. Minutes or hours later, she didn’t know, it hit her hard and suddenly, exactly how many millions of events had to fall into place for the Fates to allow her to be Mike’s wife and how terrifyingly close she came to never having him in her life. It was all just a little overwhelming. The rightness, the passion, the intensity brought tears to her eyes, and she held on to him tighter. And through it all was the beat of their hearts, the perfection of their love for each other, and the strength of his arms keeping the rest of the world at bay.Revna ‘The Best Thing That Ever Happened to me Is You’ McKenzie
That night passed like an eternity wrapped in a single moment. Her… him… and nothing else in the universe. As she lay wrapped in his arms, his body following the contours of her own, his mind wandered and he had a waking dream…
Hills dotted the landscape rising up from a rocky shore bordering a gray-green sea; and were covered in moss and the dried brown husks or heather in the winter. The wind blew steady and cold, but it wasn’t unpleasant… and the tang of salt from the ocean filled his senses.
And there she was. His Viking princess. His shield-maiden. His Nordic bride. She wore a gray dress with white accents, and small flowers were woven into her braids. She laughed and danced and ran from him across the hilly moor, looking over her shoulder and smiling. The wind bellowed the dress out from her bare legs and feet, and she led him further and further from the sea.
Soon she disappeared, but before him was a low stone house. It sat half in the ground, and the roof was the same moss covered color as the countryside around it. A wooden door opened to reveal a single room cottage with a large fire place. He had never seen it before, but he knew it immediately. She was there, stirring something in a large, black pot. As he closed the door, she turned and smiled at him.
“Welcome home, husband.”
And his eyes popped open to see her face now looking at him, a soft smile on her face.
Mike ‘Well That Was Something’ McKenzie
Revna was half on her side, palms flat against his chest, curled against him, held close and secure in his arms, legs tangled. She watched his face, his expression relaxing, the weight he carried for the moment appearing to be gone. She had no idea where he was in his dreams, but she hoped she was in there somewhere. She shifted slightly and his whole body curled around her pulling her closer. There was a tugging, a reaching, from her heart the core of who she was, her soul that was only quieted in his presence. She kissed his chest where her head was now resting, then she kissed his chin, along his jaw, and gently below his year, and she whispered, “Welcome home, husband.” She wasn’t sure what made her choose those words, but she wanted to be home for him, the way he was for her. She laid her head back watching him and when he opened his eyes she was smiling softly. She reached one arm around his waist tracing random patterns across his back. “Good morning.” She kissed him soft and lingering, relaxing completely in his arms.
Revna ‘Home is not a place but a person’ McKenzieMike was momentarily disoriented. His dream had been so vivid, and even now he could smell the salt on the air. “I… you were-… holy crap that was intense.” Hang on a second.” and he shot up and almost leapt out of the bed. He turned back and leaned over her and kissed her quickly. “I love you.” and he ran his naked body to the desk and grabbed the PaDD and yanked the stylus off the side and began writing furiously.
Mike ‘This Is Why You Married Me, In Case You Didn’t Know’ McKenzie
Revna laid there a moment, bemused, enjoying the show as he ran back and forth across the room. With a contented sigh she got up getting two very large glasses of ice water. She was thirsty and he probably was as well even if he was too focused to notice at the moment. She set one next to him and then checked the blinking light on the comm panel. Your meal should still be fresh and ready for you both when you are ready for it Please enjoy your evening and each other. - Haighnak After she read it she looked around, found her dress and slipped it back on over shoulders, tying it. She opened the door to find a tray of their meal, all contained in stasis boxes. That meant the food was still hot and the beer was not only cold but NOT flat. She opened one container and pulled out a small bread roll and nibbled on it while Mike worked. She smiled, the look of total concentration and focus on her face and it would be an image of him she would hold dear. She quietly slipped into the shower while he worked.
Revna ‘I know why I married you, don’t you?’ McKenzieMike was writing furiously and he didn’t notice the activity. His focus was on the words coming from his dream.
*I see you in my dreams,
Dancing through the hills.
You are as beautiful as the sea we swim in.
And my dreams always have you.As the heather fades to winter,
And the wind blows in the cold,
I know that you are with me,
I know that I am home.Oh, I know home is where my heart is…
Across the sea and stars,
I know home is where my heart is…
And my heart is where you are.Our house is calm and caring,
Our fire always warm,
There is no place I’d rather be,
Then there inside your armsBut life ain’t always easy,
And love ain’t always fair,
And I know you have to leave me,
But in my heart you’re always here.Oh, I know home is where my heart is…
Across the sea and stars,
I know home is where my heart is…
And my heart is where you are.He didn’t realize it, but he was singing softly. The music changed and shifted, and he went back a line or two and began again… but it was a song. Rough, sure… but it was cohesive… and it was good.
Mike ‘Yes, that Mike’ McKenzie
Revna came out of the shower, wrapped in a fluffy robe and hearing him singing she settled on the bed, curled up, head resting against the head board. She watched him as he worked and listened to his voice as he sang softly. It was beautiful and encompassing and called to her. She found herself humming along quietly to herself as she listened. But when he got to the point about her leaving, she quietly slipped from the room while he worked. She stood by the window and gazed out on stars that were not her own and allowed her tears to slip out silently. It wasn’t the song, it told her everything she needed to know, that he would be waiting while she did what she needed to do, that her leaving didn’t change anything.
But it didn’t make it easier. She knew, she was trained to know, that she had to do this. She’d spent too many years living someone else’s dream, someone else’s life. Mike had supported her decision to leave Star Fleet and find something new that she loved. But she didn’t want to leave him....
And it was circular, it was how they’d ended up not talking to begin with. Too stubborn, both of them. They both wanted her to stay but they both knew she had to go. At least for a little while. She had died every day she hadn’t heard from him, and she couldn’t do that again. Maybe she was simply too raw, she hadn’t slept well in weeks, nightmares of what ifs and flash backs had plagued her sleep and she hadn’t had Mike to call, and that was her fault. And now it was a different type of raw: happiness, giddiness, intense passion, all encompassing love. Amazing and wonderful, but still raw in their intensity. The thumb of her right hand passed back and forth over the twisted braid of the gold cord he’d made into a ring. She was going to have to do something with it to make sure it didn’t wear out.
Revna ‘I don’t forgive myself’ McKenzieA hand laid itself on her shoulder and turned her around as two big arms pulled her into him. “Shhhhh…” he said softly. “Its all good, babe. And it always will be. Now shhhhhh…” and he pressed her into him, letting her tears wet his hairy chest. “And we still have days and days and days… so lets not waste ‘em worrying about ‘later’, all right sweetheart?”
Mike ‘I Got You’ Mckenzie
Revna hadn’t heard him come in, but she wasn’t surprised to feel his hand on her shoulder, or to find herself held securely in his arms. At first she cried harder, but there were no sobs or vocal cries, just silent shudders that ran through her body. She was quiet for a long time, it was healing and necessary. Once she’d started to cry the dam seemed to quietly release, all the pent up emotional expression, kept at bay, by necessity, since her injury needing to get out. Face pressed to his chest, arms tucked between them, his arms around, finally she took a deep softly shuddered breath and nodded. “Alright.” She brushed her fingers across her face and looked up at him. She didn’t apologize for it, but her gaze conveyed how much it meant to her for him to be there right then. She stretched up and kissed him softly on the corner of his mouth before tucking her head back against his chest for several quiet moments.
Until her stomach rumbled in the silence and she laughed softly. “They sent the beer flights and food up. Everything is in stasis boxes so it should still be good.”
Revna ‘I need to stay in your arms…oh wait…food’ McKenzie“Thats fantastic. Let’s eat in bed… lose the robe. It’d be a shame to get food on it, right?” and he reached down and untied the belt. “Now, I hear your stomach grumbling, so let’s eat… then you can inspire another song.” and he led her back into the other room.
He picked up the boxes and set them in the middle of the bed. As the stasis fields powered down, the aroma of the food wafted through the air. Then it was Mike’s stomach turn to grumble. He pointed a finger at his wife and said “No distracting us. We need to eat, woman.” and he grinned at her.
Revna paused, robe half off her shoulders, showing peeks at her back. She turned to look at him, her eyes smoldering. “Oh Mike, my dear sweet Husband. If you want no distractions,” She lifted a delicate shoulder and pulled the robe back up, over lapped the front firmly and retied the belt, “then you shall have none.” She curled up on the far opposite corner of the bed from him, and reached for the fritter and the last of her appetizer flight: the stout. She sipped it and made a face. “Eh, it’s a bit bland.”
“Hey. I love you. Just wanted you to know that.” he said as he picked up a beer and took a drink.
Mike ‘Noone Wants To Stop For Food’ McKenzie
She stopped in the middle of getting up and smiled at him. “I know. I love you too.” She left the room and returned with two glasses of water and sat back on her corner. She reached across the bed to hand him the water, the robe shifting just enough. She waited, “Mike, honey, take the water.”
Revna ‘Was that a Challenge?’ McKenzieMike was staring, and then his eyes shifted up and he said “I’m sorry, but there is dress code for this establishment. Lose the robe, lady. Or no food for you.” and he began to slide the food towards him, his eyes going back to where the robe had ‘accidentally’ slipped.
Mike ‘Yeah Im Staring Whats It To You’ McKenzie
Revna sat up slowly, the gap in the robe closing, as she had her own little staring session. She laughed softly, “But Mike, you said no distractions.” Her eyes travelled from his eyes across his form and back again. The gaze that returned to his was hungry, and not for food, and there was an obvious blush to her skin. “But if you insist.” She untied the belt and the robe pooled around her where she sat. She reached over to snag a roll before he had the food totally out of reach.
