Amusement glimmered in her eyes as she gazed at Micah, the charade slipping for the barest hint of a moment into something more thoughtful. Then her game face was back. Shara slipped behind him, her ‘shield’ up, and she whispered. “Onwards, good Knight. I bid you to lead us to safety.” She couldn’t help the chuckle that echoed in her head. Gods she was having fun!

Micah winked at her and took her hand in his flesh one and led her out the door and down the passageway.
What followed was five minutes of imaginary highwaymen besieging the pair; trolls, giant flying bats, and a single monstrous snake trying to eat them. Reaching his room, he braced himself against the side of the doorway. He whispered “The dragon’s den!” and then moved her behind him. “Stay here, fair maid. I shall slay the best and save your kingdom.” and he turned and kissed her, flicking her lip with the tip of his tongue. “You know… for luck.” and he winked and then palmed the door open and dove into the room.
Silence.
Thank goodness it was just shy of 0300 and no one was around. Then again, one careful intense look from her would generally encourage most people to carry on their way. Shara leaned against the side of the door and waited.
Then the sounds of an ‘epic’ battle could be faintly heard… followed by silence.
One might think he was taking the whole game a little far, but Shara couldn’t help but grin. She loved it.
The intercom activated and a panting voice said “Fair Princess… the beast is vanquished, but not without loss. It is safe to enter.”
As the door opened and she entered; Micah stood, one leg raised on the arm of a chair and the spoon held high in triumph…
and not a stitch of clothes on his body.

It took every bit of her willpower not to bust out laughing. Whatever she expected, it had not been this, but at the same time a small part of her chided herself for not anticipating such a dramatic… presentation. Stepping in, she looked Micah up and down, more than once, her pale grey-blue eyes tracing every bit of him as she began a slow circle around him. “Well, good Sir. For your valiant efforts I do believe a reward is in order,” she said, the tone of her voice edging downward slightly as she began the delicate process of undoing the buttons that held her silk blouse closed, though she kept her distance… for the moment.
Shara moved behind him and rested her hands on his sides. “And I must say you are the perfect picture of a courageous knight,” she whispered from behind into his ear. “One could have quite the statue carved in your honour.”
