Not long after she had been recruited and formally accepted a commission, Shara had once had an arrogant intel agent she had been working with tell her she had been lucky to have missed the Dominion War, as if she and the others on the Voyager had somehow escaped some perilous fate that everyone else had endured. Back then she had rightfully dismissed him as being a jack@$$, but that didn’t mean his words hadn’t stung more than a little. It wasn’t as if those seven years traipsing their way haphazardly across the Delta Quadrant has some how been a luxury cruise. They hadn’t skirted anything. And just as Faye was having her own past come full circle, so was Shara. It left her uneasy.
When she finally let her gaze shift back to Micah, Shara didn’t hold back the fear in her eyes. “That I won’t, but not because I chose it. Ed used to tease me about always needing an escape plan. I have one for here- I have several, actually. And as much as I am fully willing to step in the line of fire to protect Faye, it feels like it would be a cruel punishment for the Delta Quadrant to be my final resting place.”

Micah looked at her seriously and said “That ain’t gonna happen. I won’t let it. Got it?” and he took her hand in his and squeezed it.
Pikelsimer
Shara gave him an easy smile with a small half-shrug as he held her hand. “Silly worries. Then again no one said fear was rational. But you be careful there Micah Pikelsimer. Knights in shining armour tend to meet tragic fates, and that would be a bloody shame.” She slipped her hand out of his and finally ate the bite of soup she had intended to a couple minutes ago. Inwardly she shook off her melancholy musings. After all, this was supposed to be a date.

Micah grinned and said “Oh, I ain’t no knight… and you ain’t no damsel in distress. But I will say that if somebody done goes and tries to give me a tragic fate, bet your shapley and lucious a$$ it sure will be bloody. I ain’t goin’ nowhere.” and he laughed.
Picklesimer
It was such a sure statement, but if Shara knew anything was true, it was that there were no guarantees. But he was right, if there was anyone who would give someone hell for trying to take him down, it was Micah. A fact she appreciated and resembled. Though she didn’t finish all of the soup, she had finished the sandwich, so just pushed the bowl to the side. She sipped on her iced tea. After a few long moments she started chuckling, and then her laughter grew. “Me as a damsel… nowthere is an image,” she said, through laughter.
