=/\= Manhattan, this is Federation vessel Mawhenny. Request permission to approach and beam over 2 individuals. Your Skipper should be expecting us. =/\=As the call came in, a Cardassian Hideki-class long range craft dropped out of warp roughly two thousand kilometers away off the starboard side of the Manhattan. Cochrane walked out of the Ready Room and looked at the Lieutenant on duty in the command chair. “Acknowledge that hail and give them permission. Contact the XO, Security Chief, Commander and Lieutenant Calloway to meet me in transporter room two. And tell Lieutenant Wyatt to prepare the brig for visitors.” and he walked into the turbo lift and scowled as the doors slid closed.
Less than a minute later, the doors to the transporter room slid open and Cochrane strode into the room. He looked at the Petty Officer on duty and said “S’ler, wait until their ship is alongside of us, then energize. Hopefully everyone will be here by then.”
Cochrane, CO
Shara naturally arrived only a step behind Cochrane and she simply took up a spot against a wall. “Do we know his status?” she asked the CO softly. It was important for them to be able to anticipate how Faye might react, though even as she thought that she understood that if there was anything they could be certain of, it was that her daughter lived to be unpredictable even if it wasn’t a conscious decision.
~Shara Calloway
Cochrane was about to reply when the whine of the transporter signaled the arrival of someone… or in this case… someones. As the two forms coalesced on the pad, Alex smiled to one of them and said “Gunny. Good to see you.”
Shara peeled herself off the wall and joined Cochrane at his side. Where was Faye? She knew her daughter too well to know she wouldn’t just be lackadaisical and wander in late without cause. But it didn’t matter right now because right now her attention was required elsewhere. She took in the two men with a brefe but intense scan of her eyes.
The figure was speaking to was a somewhat older human male with short-cut slat and pepper hair cut in the style of the Marines. He wasn’t tall, but he wasn’t short, either. Standing around six feet tall, the man was built like a small tank. Wide shoulders and well defined muscles rippled under the black jacket he wore. His legs were solidly built; with wide, muscular thighs and defined calves. His face was weathered, but not wholly unhandsome; just as if he had spent many years outside. He wore a clean and well kept beard that had slightly more gray than brown in it, but his eyes seemed to pierce through anything they set their gaze on.
“Cochrane.” and he shook Cochrane’s offered hand. “You’re looking good. And a fine ship, by the way. Hope she’s as pretty inside as she is outside.” the man replied with a slight country drawl. He motioned to the other man standing next to him. “This is Commander Leroy Strickland.” Cochrane held a hand out to the man, whose obviously cybernetic eyes locked onto him and he nodded. Shaking the offered hand, he said “Agent Pikelsimer says I have you to thank for the ride out of there, Captain. You have my thanks and my gratitude.” Alex smiled and shook his head. “No, no. Faye is the one you should thank. She figured it out. I just called the cab.” and he gestured to Shara. “Commander Calloway, COmmander Strickland and this is Federation Security Agent Micah Pikelsimer.”
For Shara, Strickland was important not because he was Faye’s handler, but because he understood the intricacies of the kinds of tasks both herself and Faye had been given in ways others could not. And as expected, the latter was the man from the report. A person who saw a task through to the end. Good.
Piklesimer looked at the elder Calloway and gave her a none-to-subtle smile. “Well… this certainly is a pleasure. Nice to make your acquaintance.” and he held out his hand to her.
Pikelsimer, FedSec
Shara shook his hand with intention, her own showing she had certainly worked hard over her life. In her early sixties, Shara was the modern Human equivalent of middle age, but constant physical training and the living of a hard life had left her with a lean and toned physique. “They say you can tell everything you need to know about a person in our line of work by the after action report,” she said, a gleam appearing in her eyes. “Kudos.” Others saw Federation Security as the ‘others’ but not Shara. She had played the game of choosing sides before and not only was it unnecessary now, it made their jobs harder than it needed to be.

Micah gave her hand a squeeze and he said “AAR’s only give so much. YOu should let me tell me you all about it over a drink.” and he looked at Cochrane without releasing Shara’s hand. “You got a bar on this bucket, don’t ya Skipper?”
Shara simply smirked. Well this was unexpected.
Cochrane looked at Pikelsimer… then to Shara… then to Strickland. Strickland, to his credit, just chuckled. “Captain, has he always been this subtle?” and Cochrane chuckled as well. “Oh no… he’s much improved form when I last saw him.”
Micah looked at Shara and smiled. “Pay them no mind. They’re just jealous.” and he winked as he slowly released her hand.
Pikelsimer, FedSec
“Last time someone said something similar he became my husband,” Shara deadpanned. Was she teasing? Definitely. Still there were games that actually were entertaining to play and it had been some time since she had even allowed herself to play them. She might be in uniform at the moment but she was technically on leave after all.
Faye had slipped into the transporter room, catching only half of her mother’s comment. She surveyed the room and took in its weird energy. “Uhh, what did I miss?”
“Not too much,” Strickland said with a smirk, though it was tempered by Faye’s arrival. The two took each other in and for a moment he did nothing. But then Leroy reached out his hand and opened his palm which held a small tricorder. He inhaled deeply and smiled at Faye. “Go ahead, Merc, I know you want to.”
He knew her too well and at the same time, Faye had gone through something of a dramatic transformation. More like an unravelling. And yet, he had it bang on. He knew she’d have a small doubt about the man before her. Hadn’t she already been tricked so brilliantly? Stepping up to Leroy, she closed his fingers over the tricorder and simply stared into his eyes. Those mechanical eyes that couldn’t express emotion in the same way and were a sign of the deep trauma that had been inflicted upon him. Faye took him in and later she probably wouldn’t recall that it had been her who had moved first, but she enveloped the tall man in a hug that tried to express all the things she couldn’t say. “It is you,” she said softly, hot tears spilling over her cheeks.
Leory smiled and hugged her back, mindful of the tricorder still in his hand. That had been unexpected. Faye usually sought as much information as she could before acting. That was not how this had gone down and it was a delightful surprise. Good for her. “Hey, it was just a different cliff and very unplanned.”
Faye couldn’t help but laugh as she pulled back from him and wiped her cheeks with the heel of her hand. “Jerk.” But even as she teased him, her expression shifted. “I missed you. I should have known it wasn’t you. You would have-“
Leroy waved her off, his eyes narrowing in sternness. “No, Faye. We’re not doing this blame game. You couldn’t have known. And as I was reminded as I arrive here, you are the reason I’m here at all and in reasonable enough shape. Once again I’m just glad you’re on our side,” he said with a mischievous grin.
“How long are you here for?” Faye asked.
Strickland looked to Cochrane and shrugged. “Long enough for us to catch up but not so long that I’m a nuisance?” A question as much a statement.

Cochrane looked around the room. “I think it best we all adjourn to the Conference Room.” and he took a step back and gestured to the door.
Faye stepped out first, her emotions a rather large jumble.
A few minutes later the group was seated at the conference room table, Cochrane at the head. Micah made a point of sitting next to the elder Calloway, but across from Strickland. “Now, then.” Cochrane began, “I would like to discuss next steps, and what the plan surrounding our current squatter in the brig is. Commander Strickland? As you may have more of idea of what Intel has in mind, I will ask that you and Agent Pikelsimer brief us as much as you can at this time. The floor is yours.”
Cochrane, CO
Sitting between the captain and Leroy, Faye’s focus was on her handler. Former handler? She wasn’t exactly sure how everything would shake down, especially given Creed’s offer.
Shara folded hers arms on the edge of the table, learning forward like the attentive listener she had learned to be. But she was all too aware of Piklesimer presence next to her.
Leroy nodded at Cochrane and took everyone in turn. “My status is still a little in flux, but as for our prisoner, I’m only the messenger. Intel, of course, is right pissed, but only those that are in the know. Right now, we’ve isolated the discrepancies in orders and as far as we know Lieutenant Calloway’s situation is the most extreme. But I don’t think anyone is sitting comfortable right now.” He glanced to Micah. “We’re also very well aware that Federation Security wants a chance to question the prisoner, and I personally can’t see that going over very well. Either way, the prisoner will be off this ship as soon as possible.”
“What about the facility where they were keeping you?” Shara said.
“Being dealt with as we speak,” Leroy replied, but he looked to Micah to confirm.
For her part, Faye sat quietly digesting the conversation so far. The facility they spoke of was assuredly the same place Fake Blue had promised her she would rot away in sensory oblivion. She shuddered slightly.
~The Calloways & Strickland
Micah took the cue and his stone-cold professionalism came through even with the Tennessee drawl. “The facility has done been stripped of physical intelligence. All residents and staff have been moved to other locations all around Federation space. Not a one will see each other again for a long time. Definitely long enough to debrief and make damn sure we get the truth outta those capable of giving it. The ones that done did this were smart. They kept their actions pretty damn compartmentalized. But after reading the statements from the prisoner here, we know there was at least some cross-talk. When FedSec arrives and takes him into custody, we’ll get all the answers we can.”
As he spoke, he looked around the room, not really speaking to a single individual. But at the moment he mentioned FedSec and custody, he looked directly at Faye and Strickland.
“I know y’all both want your pound of flesh, and I ain’t gonna fault you for that. But FedSec jurisdiction supercedes anyone sittin’ at this here table. And you can be damn sure they ain’t gonna play second fiddle to anybody… ‘specially somebody that let a mole so deep inside. So if y’all got questions, you better ask ‘em quick. Leroy and I already talked about this, and I’ve put off bringing the bastard in for as long as I can. But the way I see it? Y’all got maybe seventy-two hours till fake boy-o down there get picked up… alive and healthy… by my people.”
