Walker smiled over at Faye as she looked back at him. He caught the look in her eyes and he knew how much what he said meant to her.

As Faye picked up her own bag, Walker grabbed his own toolkit and started moving down the tube. “So what are we working on today?”

“So not unlike that part you helped me with, there is a similar relay system that’s causing me issues. It doesn’t have the device hooked up, but it functions similarly. It was throwing up annoying errors the other day and I’m not getting a steady response from it. So either there is a glitch in the connecting relays or I need to replace that main one. I have the parts, but like I said, I thought it best to have help and I don’t trust anyone else but you to touch the system,” she said, tossing a grin back his way.

“Well it probably also helps that I make it a habit not to electrocute people touching the systems,” Walker said with a laugh. “But I appreciate the trust.

Calloway just smiled.

“I know I don’t have access to all of the end data that you get, but I haven’t been seeing any errors getting thrown up from this area. But I would think that if either the main relay is having issues, or a series of the connecting relays were glitching, it would have thrown up an error in some other connected system that we all had access to. The issue isn’t in your code by chance is it?”

Moving along Faye chuckled slightly.”I’d never rule it out, but I already double-checked it. If there’s an issue we can’t find down here, then I’ll go through it again, but my hunch is it’s my tertiary relay.”

As they approached the section, Faye sat back on her heels. “Okay, confession time. I designed my bit of the system to overlay our main systems. Yes, they are all connected, but if there was an issue that wasn’t * an actual incursion, I didn’t want it to impact the main systems. So this one relay not responding likely indicates it automatically shut down for some reason. What I don’t know is why*,” she said as she opened the panel and exposed the inner working of this particular data transfer area.

“Ah, sneaky,” Walker said setting down his kit and pulling out the tricorder. As he looked in the panel he let out a low whistle. “I forgot how clean your work is. And probably without a deeper look, most of the engineers around here wouldn’t even know where to look.”

After taking a minute to admire her work, he reached over and pulled a relay tester out of his kit. “I’ll start with double checking the native systems, if you want to start on your specific upgrades. Sound good?”
