There were fluctuations in the shields and engines. Power seemed to be wavering. Whatever was affecting us was drawing power from us itself, which is why we had to boost engines so much and drop other system. Captain, if you need us to play battery or want to get close to whatever that was again, a little warning might help. Kaia hadn’t been in Engineering nearly as long as her CE, so although she was rather brilliant with her hands, decision making like that wasn’t her strong point. Gwyn walked in and attempted to hide her cybernetic hand from her colleagues. “Hello.” She said in a shy voice. She tried to avoid eye contact afraid of the eyes that would stare at her.

One notable pair of eyes that Gwyn might notice belonged to a small feline creature who looked like someone had made Puss in Boots into a Siamese Cat and dressed him up in a Starfleet uniform.

The alien smiled cheerfully at the girl, then turned back to the console she was perched on and pressed a few buttons, continuing to work on something.

Max looked up at the voice as their new engineer joined them, and was just about to order her to one of the consoles to assist when the Captain Voice came over the intercom.

=^=Commander Wynters, Lieutenant Wynters, We are sending an away team to the surface, please allocate personnel to accompany the team. Commander, preferably someone that can expedite repairs on a shuttle and aid in fighting the Gravity effects.=^= Came the voice of the Captain, it was decidedly serious for the moment, and seeming accustomed to issuing orders that would be followed.

She watched as the girl worked and when the Captain’s voice came over the communicator, she quickly looked up as if to volunteer for the mission but stopped when her hand was shown. She pulled back her hand and looked to see if anyone saw.

Seeing Frazer’s hesitation made up Max’s mind, although it had already been moving in this direction anyway.

“Ensign Kaia” he said, looking at the small felinoid, “Get an Engineering Kit and get to the Shuttle bay, Frazer, your with me.” The Galdorian was small, light and agile, and he thought better suited for dealing with gravity related issues, plus she wasn’t a half bad shuttle mechanic and could get into the slightly more difficult places. And fitted into the overhead luggage compartments, allowing more security to go, he thought with a smirk. Frazer was new and seemed to lack confidence, he felt she was better suited working with him on this one.

=/\= Captain =/\= Max comm’d back, =/\= Ensign Kaia is on her way to the Shuttle Bay =/\= then he nodded at the small alien to pack her things and get moving.

“Aye-aye,” the bright-eyed alien exclaimed, leaping off the console and heading over to grab her engineering kit. She’d spent quite some time getting it together, so it was just perfect. It contained a smaller assortment of tools than the regular tool-kit, but she’d only removed things which were redundant, and had added a tool or two of her own. And it was in a lighter bag. She strapped it around her shoulder and walk-ran to the door, headed for the Shuttle Bay.

“Frazer take over on that console, we had an energy drain earlier and I need to adjust shield harmonics to see if we can find a way to resist it” he continued to work on his side, “balance the phase variance from the emitters while I try and increase the output and modulate the polarity.”

Gwyn replied, “Yes, sir. I’ll see what I can do.” She ran to the console and began trying to balance the variance. As she saw what she was working with she looked to Wynter and said, “I can do it sir. Just give me time and I can do it.”
