She had set a time and asked him to book the space for what would amount to a very basic, if personal meeting. The last couple weeks had been rather intense, and Shara felt she was either floating in and out of the periphery of it all or smack dab in the middle. Either way, despite her floating status on this ship, she was here as long as she felt both herself and Faye needed her to be. And from all the evidence she’d seen Faye definitely needed her here! And it was with her daughter in mind that she asked Cochrane for a meeting regarding a personal matter and a space where they could chat uninterrupted.
Stepping into the briefing room, she replicated herself a cup of mint tea and sat down next the head of the table, turned t the side so she could watch the door as well as glance out the windows.

About ten minutes after their agreed upon time, the doors slid open and Cochrane walked through; PaDD in hand. “Commander, my apologies. I think your daughter underestimates her knack for generating paperwork.” and he waved the PaDD absentmindedly. He went to the replicator and ordered a strong black coffee and then sat down heavily in the chair across from Shara.
It was with a lopsided grin that Shara turned at length to gaze at him; ever aware but on high alert. She was too well trained not to be observant but also she was most decidedly not on duty. “I can imagine. Thank you for finding the time to meet with me. I know how busy starship captains can be. And please, do call me Shara.”
He smiled slightly and said “Meeting in the Auxiliary Bridge… this is either going to be terrible news; or are we going to have send you scurrying through my ship in order to ferret out a doppelganger in the Federation President’s office?”

Shara laughed wildly, not so dissimilar from Faye but from Shara it seemed to come more naturally and readily. The motion deepened the fine lines around her eyes and when she focused her gaze on Cochrane there was an untamed depth in the pale grey-blue eyes- a reminder perhaps of her older age and all that brought with it. “I dearly hope not. Besides I seriously doubt under the circumstances it would be me bringing that your attention. As requested, aside from instances of immediate fallout regarding my investigation and our prisoner, I’m on leave,” she said lightly. A fact her attire attested to, though the black trousers and grey turtleneck sweater had become something of a casual uniform here on the Manhattan.
“Ah yes, the ever-so-popular ‘Don’t look at me I’m not really here’ Intel excuse. Typical.” Cochrane said in mock seriousness, although the slight grin made it clear the statement was in jest.
“It’s popular for a reason,” she tossed back easily, her eyes lit up.
“It’s funny you mentioned my daughter, as I mentioned that this was a personal matter and it involves her.” Shara sipped her tea before setting it down well in front of her and folded her arms on the table.
She’s took a seemingly long moment to gather the necessary words, discard a few and rework her thought. “I’m keeping tabs on Faye in my own way, and trying to not push myself into my life. I think we can both agree that it’s going to take longer than however long I’m here for Faye and I to truly reconcile the time we’ve lost together. But I do know she has wonderful friends in her life- some she’s introduced me to herself- others I’ve gleaned in other ways.” Hell, you would have had to have been blind or not paying attention to see the obvious rapport and connection Faye had with the captain. And Shara knew that that spoke volumes as to Cochrane’s trustworthiness with this little idea she had. “And as a friend I wanted to pitch an idea to you but I first want your take on where she’s at and her head space. I have my own assessment but you’re closer with her than I am so I value your thoughts.”

Cochrane’s face remained relaxed, but his mind went Crap, I really hope this isnt about Faye and Wyatt. I will not be officiating any weddings, thats for damn sure. as his mouth spoke “Hit me. I’m no Counselor, but I will at least give you an honest opinion.” and he took a big sip of coffee.

Bracing her elbow o the table, Shara rested her chin in her hand and tapped her bent fingers on her lower lip. “I’m not expert either, but I’ve had my fair share of time with them.” She inhaled and let out the breath abruptly. “When I spoke in the immediate aftermath of Faye being in the brig, I was worried about what might happen if she was left to her own… darkness for too long. Now things have obviously changed and many of the worries I had are no longer valid, or less likely. But, I’m now worried Faye has gone quite the opposite, which is completely normal after having survived a situation where you didn’t think you would. But with Faye, of course, things are more… complicated.”
